dsl up in the frozen north
1.5mbps ~(160 mBps) down
512kbps ~(69 mBps) up

These are sustained averages. I have seen of course much higher number ~230kBps but these more realistic indicators of performance.:)

At this moment I have 56K, but my 8 Port Linksys router just got here today. I will have DSL next week. I wanted the extra ports for future expansion. I will have 3 or 4 ports used immediately. Not sure if I am going to put my Laser Jet 4 on the network or just use printer sharing. Anyone know what the difference would be as far as the network is concerned?

Cable internet, not sure on the rated speed but I typically get about 300-650K downloads. And I get about 100-160k uploads.

Telusplanet ADSL

1.5M down
512 up

Super reliable, never been down once for me yet :)

The best $40 CDN per month I can spend. Only $20 more than regular 56K.

borealiss - Ethernet does not connect you to the internet, but rather shares a internet connection.

I'm on Cable
UP: 100kbps
DOWN: 500kbps
