Just starting to make a new c2d system and was wondering what video card would i need.
I plan on only using a 19" lcd with max rez at 1280 x 1024, i think?
The only game i pretty much play is WoW so dont need top of the line.
However, I would like to play at the max rez with all options maxed and have a good fps for raids. All suggestions are appreciated O yeah, i can't afford $400 dollar cards but anything below is fine.

7900GT will be enough at that resolution. Maybe as high as a X1900XT 512 but i wouldn't go much/any higher.

I agree... 7900GT will be plenty of power for WoW.
Just get the ones that are on sale... like the MSI 7900GT for $200 AR...

I do about 40 fps on 1024x720 on a P4 2,4 ghz and a Radeon 9800 Pro, so any modern card should be sufficient.

My brother plays WoW @ 1600x1200 with a C2D E6600, P5B-Deluxe, 2x1GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800C5, and 7900GS with no problems. No overclocking at all.

I'd say anything more than a 7900GS, 7900GT, or 7950GT is overkill. A 7900GTO would be a good option if you can still find them.

Check out the x1950 pro from either powercoler (included accelero X2) or saphire. Both are ~$200 and beat the 7900gt in most tests, not sure about WoW.

7600GT if you wanted to go lower end.

I run it fine (40+fps) with my system at 1280x1024.

My friend even runs it fine on his 6800GS with a 20.1" widescreen @ native res.
