I think obviously the interface will get tweaked a little bit, it happens with virtually every version of Android.

Near Field communications- I dunno, would like to see it before I pass judgment, I guess it's better than having a chip planted in my skull

Motion control API's will be nice and help with Android maturing as a gaming platform.

Native video chat-bring it on, I like that it could be baked into the system, a lot... Especially now that I have a phone with a FFC.

New Market-please, please Google, do anything, the market is just a mess

Google Music-meh, I just stream from free services, too cheap to buy music.

Support for large screen devices-definitely a fan, was looking at some you tube videos of the Viewsonic tablet, and it looks great, but I'm holding out for a device that ships with 2.3 and market support.

Virtual keyboard enhancements, awesome, anything they can do to improve virtual keyboards is a huge plus.

Web M and VP8 support, looks good, the more video formats supported, the better.

You Tube broadcasting-does this mean I can strap a phone on my cat and watch from work? Kitteh cam, here I come...

"Google Me"/social gaming-meh, personally I'd rather watch paint dry than play Farmville or have another Facebook/MySpace/Look at me website...

Nexus S-God, I'm so conflicted, love new hardware, but Samsung? Sigh...

ok seriously, I'd like some UI enhancements. Forget the fact that stuff is jerky still.

- How about cursor selection? The iPhone uses a magnifying glass and Sense stole that too. But sometimes when you deal with smaller text like in a textbox in your browser, you're hoping you hit the right letter. The HTC_IME mod keyboard allows using the volume keys to move left and right when typing which is VERY useful because otherwise I'd spend my time tapping time and time again until I hit the right letter.
- Default multi touch keyboard?
- Market? Is it that big of a mess? It's probably as messy as the Apple App store when viewed from your iPhone. I thought a desktop version of the market was coming? I'd like to see a very cleaned up version of that.
- I really want push notifications for all my apps if possible. With memory issues, I shouldn't have to keep an IM client open. Froyo 2.2 was supposed to bring push notifications changes, but I have yet to see any app really use push.
- Better battery management?

Lets say I want to copy a phone number from someone who just called me? Woops cant do that, Copy a number in the phonebook nope. I have to use an App that uses OCR which fails alot.

I completely agree. At first people used this as ammo to fire against the iPhone, but then now what? An incomplete C&P system? Something so trivial yet so hard to implement.

- Native Exchange Activesync notes & tasks integration (requires stock notes and tasks apps in Android)

- Application access to call audio stream (needed for "Record Call" apps)

- Allow people to port their existing phone numbers to Google Voice!

- Improved 3G data service detection options (allow the user to specify "aggressive" detection for improved data reliability when driving/riding train etc...)

- Optimization to increase battery life

- Allow screenshots, phone reboots, without requiring root

- Native GPU support for Android UI

- Improve voice dialing recognition

- Native ipsec and OpenVPN support!

- Add option for user to 'allow' or 'deny' network access for specific apps.

- Add support for Unlicensed Mobile Access (UMA) aka 'WiFi calling'

This is pretty much my list. Also a desktop version of the Market would be cool; it would be much easier to surf. Also native support for FFC and video chat I think is pretty plausible too, not that I need it.

Also, don't know if this is just isolated to the SGS or to my custom ROM or if it is universal, but the automatic brightness for the screen sometimes choose the correct setting.

Windows Phone 7 already has that. People who want freedom choose Android.
People who arent sure but definitely hate apple will end up with a Windows phone.

If I ever get tired of my Droid Incredible, I can walk into any carrier's store and pick any device that fits my specific needs without having to settle for a single phone from a single manufacturer on a single carrier.

Yes, some phones will get updates before others. So what? I can assure you, 99% of people out there don't care about the fact that not every Android phone gets updated at the same time.

I chose Android specifically because there were so many device options, instead of a cookie-cutter "one size fits all" approach.

Has nothing to do with copy & paste. It's an OS feature that just needs to be properly implemented.

To me it's still mind boggling why it's so hard to implement. I can see that it's not a simple feature to be added, which was why Apple took a while. I believe they still took too long, and as for Android? I don't understand why it's not fully implemented yet. It's like a half-assed implementation.

this is an icky topic especially in the US. certain states require that you state you are recording before you can legally do so... i highly doubt it'll be included. there are apps out there that can do it for you i believe

1. Laws vary widely. Some states/countries do not have laws covering this. Most states that require permission to record, say that if one side asks for permission ("this call may be recorded for quality purposes...") the other side is also authorized to make a recording.

2. The request is for Google to provide the ability for programmers to write apps to do this. Not for Google to add this as a feature of the OS.

3. Abiding by local law should be the duty of the user not the phone's manufacturer.

4. This is already a feature of Google Voice (for incoming calls).

5. All phone recording apps currently available for Android simply record audio from the microphone. So you get your own voice along with all the noise in the room, and a very faint echo of the person on the other side of the line unless the phone is on speaker. It is currently not possible to apps access the audio stream directly due to an OS limitation.

6. Other phones have had this ability for many, many years: Windows Mobile, Palm OS... etc.
