What kind of connection do u have???

Actually, right now I'm on a 48-50K dial-up. It's slow, but if you don't download stuff is quite usable.

Broadband..

I'm actually using a type of DSL connection; it's called Etherloop, made by Elastic Networks. It's pretty wicked at what it can do. ADSL modems hog up whatever spectrum they want; it won't shift around to find a spot with less interference. An Etherloop setup has a entire host of spectrum that it analyzes and finds the best throughput to S/N ratio. If a DSL modem comes online and interferes with the Etherloop, it will move to a different spectrum that it has analyzed in the past. It's pretty funky to watch the server-end of the process where a person can actually monitor the spectrum shifts. Etherloop isn't being widely used, mainly because it is quite expensive to implement and there are security risks involved. The connection acts just like a WAN; I can print/fileshare to systems on the cooperation's network that is miles away.

The last time I checked, the connection was rolling along at 6000/4000kbps.

Cable is nice. Wish it had faster uploads though.

28.8 dialup. I live in the sticks. My dear old ma lives a couple of miles away. She has DTN speednet. It basically looks like a microwave cable dish. The tower is on the nearby grain elevator with a dual T1 setup. She gets about 90k per sec. I get like 3 to 7.🙁

When I need to download something large I go over there and raid the fridge while downloading. To many trees between me and the elevator for me to get it. Next time you want to whine about your connection, think about me.

dial-up - and slowww

Its 56k but I am connected right now at 24,000 bps 🙁
Its usually way "faster" - 26,400!

A rock solid LAN connection while I'm at school 🙂. Once I get home only a measely cable connection. Its great at school right now, everyone left so fast speeds for all us still here.

Time Warner Roadrunner cable while I'm at home. At school, it's InfoAve broadband, but we're switching ISPs June 1 at school.
