What kind of audio out? Toslink (optical)? Digital coax? Composite?

Monster cables and Phoenix Gold (what I use) are generally considered to be reasonably priced good quality cables.

A 27" is probably analog audio out. In that case buy a regular audio cable (with red/white RCA connectors on both ends) and connect it to your receiver.

You should wire it directly to the receiver. Never EVER (!) string things along "in-line" like that. You will only introduce signal degradation into the picture. Aside from that, your receiver should have enough inputs for both.

Is your receiver a Dolby/DTS Digital 5.1 receiver, or a Pro Logic surround receiver?

in laymens terms:

Get the white and red RCA cable to go from the audio out on the back of your TV to go into the TV/AUX/VIDEO input on the back of your receiver.

just that simple.

Yes, there are.

Monster or Phoenix Gold cables are generally thought of as good quality, and at a reasonable (ie. not audiophile) price.
