For the last year or so, I occasionally see some sort of bug crawling across my bathroom floor.
They might be everywhere -- but the floor in the bathroom is lighter than all the other rooms and the bug(s) are small and dark so they are visible against that floor, but could go un-noticed in other rooms.
Shape wise, they resemble a millipede but are much smaller at about 1/2" long and about as thick around as a pencil lead at most.
They seem to have very good eyesight and can cruise pretty fast when they feel threatened.
The first time I saw one it was walking slowly across the floor, so i grabbed a tissue and went to smash/grab him -- but when I got to within about 1 foot of it, it started running surprisingly fast for something that small.
I can't tell how many legs it has -- but they are very very short and effectively invisible to my own poor eyesight.
I live in western WA in an old building with plenty of gaps in the drywall in pretty much every room -- so they are probably living in the walls.
Any ideas what they could be?

edit:
Based on pics from wikipedia, it's more millipede than centipede -- except a LOT smaller
It's not a silverfish -- unless it's a baby and baby ones are more uniform in shape like a millipede. There's no big antenae or legs sprawling out to the sides like normal adult silverfish.
Wikipedia suggests millipedes are slow -- but the things I've seen are pretty fast and elusive -- they have made no attempt to 'roll into a ball' like a millipede would
