What kind of audio cable do I need please?

Dude edit one of your thread titles to "Questions about my build:" then just keep adding all the questions you can think of to it. You already have six threads on the first page 😉.

Sorry. When it comes to audio cables I am stupid. I know nothing about audio. Thanks for the help!

Is the red and yellow audio cable really the best option for the dvd player audio ? Isn't the sound quality not the great with that kind of audio cable and I should use the coaxial instead or would it not work with that adapter/splitter and my sound card? I just thought maybe the one plug connector on my dvd player may give be better sound quality to my headphones?

coaxial would be best but as I said quckest(quickest..typo that's been quoted I won't correct) is 1/8" connections as all mobos usually have line in but not all have digital coax in ..you can rca male(yellow/white and red rca connectors) to 1/8" male then to the splitter/combiner the 1/8" male to 1/8" male cable to the 1/8" female on the pvr150 then to the combiner then plugging the combiner(1/8" male) into your mobo's line in 1/8" female ..

/left some steps out..

You linked him to a mono 1/8" M/M cable there, he's want stereo.

Actually.... does he even need to connect the tv tuner audio to the soundcard?

I admit that I have not used a TV tuner before, but it looks like all the connections on that card are inputs, not outputs. The audio should go straight from the TV tuner card to the PCI slot it's connected to and not need an external cable?

If he does not need to connect the TV tuner audio, then he'd just need to worry about the DVD player audio connection.

pcslookout, the analog audio quality of your DVD player is going to determine how things are going to sound. Some have decent analog output quality and some are not so great.

Remember before when I linked you to information on DACs? To use the digital output of the DVD player, you'd need to convert to analog somewhere along the line. Some motherboards and soundcards can take digital inputs and output analog, but most basic ones cannot.

If this is really becoming a Hometheater type situation, you might think about getting a receiver of some sort. You'll be able to hook up many sources for your headphones and projector using a variety of input types including digital audio from your DVD player. Some receivers will have Dolby Headphone and other effects which you may prefer for movie watching to try to get a more 3d sound effect vs. straight stereo you'd get from running analog out of your DVD player to the soundcard.
