What kind of AMD64 3500+ (939 Pin) overclocking results should I expect? *update, my new system is up and running*

Ok my benchies.. do they look normal?

Sisoft Sandra CPU: 11517 3955, 5118
Sisoft Sandra Memory Benchmark: 6017 6003
Doom 3 1024x768 demo1: 42.9 fps
CS Source Stress Test: 95.2 fps

oh yeah, I have a ATI Radeon 9800 Pro.

That seems low...have you done any tweaks? Is your 9800 Pro overclocked? What are the AA, AF, quality settings? I get 67.9fps on HQ, 0xAA, 2xAF on an AXP-M @ 2.665GHz and a 9800 Pro 441/792...

My 9800 Pro can't overclock at all with the stock cooling... i'm just running it at 380/350 that's a nice overclock with your 9800 pro.

I have a retail version of a Athlon64 3500+ on MSI Neo2 Platinum (BIOS v1.2) My system is water-cooled on a Koolance system. I have Corsair TWINX1024-3200XLPRO memory and a GeForce 5900XT. What is the best CPU and memory settings for my system including voltages? For some reason CPU-Z says my multiplier is x5.0. THe memory is running dual at 2-2-2-5 1T right now. Another problem I am having is SiSoftware Sandra says my Current Chipset/Memory RAM Bandwidth is ~3300 MB/s Why is it soo low?

I built a similar system based around an Athlon 64 3500+ earlier this week (see below). I have been playing around with it tonight and have a couple of questions (i'm new to AMD and overclocking).

The max stable I can achieve without lowering the multiplier was 220 x 11 = 2.42 GHZ - I had to increase the DDR voltage to 2.7v to get this setup to boot. This set up resulted in a SiS Sandra memory bandwidth of 6285 / 6240.

After reading about demenion's results in this thread I decided to lower the multiplier to 10 and increase the FSB / HTT to 240 which would equate to roughly the same clock speed of 2.4ghz. The system is stable with this config but when I ran the Sandra memory bandwidth test the results were much lower ~ 5800 (didnt write them down) which is pretty much the same as the results I was getting with everything running at stock.

I always assumed that increasing the FSB / HTT would help memory bandwidth. Is this a wrong assumption or is there some other explanation (probably related to something I'm doing wrong!)

Moodyman, make sure that your memory wasn't set to a divider when you changed your HTT to 240. That might explain why you're getting lower memory bandwidth, if your memory isn't running 1:1.

I have exactly the same problem with my 3500+ on an asus a8v, cpu-z & windowsxp both say the multiplier is x5 with the cpu speed 1Ghz.

How do I change this, I have no multiplier options in the bios :(

Just wonderin how u 3500 guys are gettin on with ur rigs....

Thinkin bout gettin 3500 and MSI K8N Neo2 plat with OCZ 3200 Plat Rev2. the board and ram won the shootouts on Anadtech.

Would be interested to know wat sort of temps ur gettin when OC'd.

Is a toss up between XP-120 or Watercoolin so would be nice to compare the 2
