What kind of addictions have you felt?

Never been addicted to anything; my Dad always used to say that I have a "non-dependent personality." He wasn't a psychiatrist/psychologist/therapist, far as I know that's just a phrase he made up.

There are so many addictions that people have out there. Gambling, Shopping, Over eating, etc... Drugs and Alcohol aren't the only ones that are just as destructive.

I watched a married friend of mine loose her house and everything due to gambling. I also watched a friend of mine get so deep in debt she had to file bankruptcy because she could not control her shopping binges. Another friend who ate all the time, especially when stressed and developed diabetes.

There are those who even cut themselves because they have no other way to cope with emotional pain, and have scarred themselves up all over.

Addictions come in all forms, and sometimes we focus to much on the drugs and alcohol and forget the other addictions.

i'm addicted to playing poker. i only play low-limit games and only spend a certain amt of $$ each month on it, so i don't think i'll ever gamble myself broke, but i consciously have to restrict myself from playing until i get my daughter in bed at night. LOL

i could play for 12 hrs/day and not get tired of it

also addicted to coffee, but i dont see that as a terrible thing

Smoking, MMORPGs.

Smoking all I did was change jobs since I only really smoked at work at the time.

MMORPGs I just lost interest, I have a wow account that I log into occasionally but generally I have better things to do.

quit WoW cold turkey after 3 months, i was never addicted, it just sucked

I don't think I'm addicted to anything, nor have I ever been.

SODA!!! I quit about 2 months ago, and now I cannot even stomach the taste of it anymore. Tastes like chemicals to me now! It's amazing how nasty soda is, once you take a few months off.

Also, I've seemed to have been able to control nail biting. I don't clip them at all though, so they eventually break off and then I fix em up with my teeth...lol. Around 8/10 of my nails right now are over-long, and I keep forgetting to buy a nail clipper.
