how much can it really matter? we are not talking about a high performance piece of equipment here.

The teac would be fine....but so would a Sony, a Panasnoic, a Mitsumi, or any other brand you can think of ;)

I have a TEAC floppy in my new rig and it works just dandy. There's also a TEAC in my Dell, which saw quite a bit of use over the year that I've had it. I paid $30 for mine, but I've seen it for $20. Honestly, a floppy is a floppy. Brand doesn't matter at all. Buy a new one and it'll last you forever. You'll probably blow up everything in your system (figuratively, not literally, I hope!) before the floppy dies. My friend has a 286DX from like, 1903 or some very old time (joke) and the floppy still works. Get the cheapest NEW floppy you can find.

What about a LS120??

Works like a normal floppy but can also do 120MB disks!! better than ZIP100!!!

Yeah, LS-120 is the way to go. I have plain Mitsumi + Teac floppy drives, a scsi Teac floppy drive, an IDE Matsushita LS-120 and a scsi Matsushita LS-120. It's great for those that are just too big for a floppy but too small for a CD-R/CD-RW.

i would also recomend the ls120 drive. they arent all that expensive and the discs are cheaper than zip discs.

most hard drives and cdroms include the necessary screws if they are not OEM models. But regular screws work (I mean, the screws aren't propertary to computers, you just have to find the right size screws.

Killbat: Disc? Disk? what's the diff?

LS120 disks are the same shape as floppies.

I prefer Zip drives just because it's more widely used, but LS120 is really better.
