I don't know about the G9, looks like a claw gripper, and as far as the Saitek and G19, both look good, but cost way too much, especially compared to the G11. I was kind of looking for something that's cheaper than the G11, or I'd just go for it instead.

But thanks for the input, the Saitek does have an interesting design for the shortcut buttons.

What should I look for in a mouse anyway? I mean, forgetting extremely high DPI and all that, am I just looking at how it looks, how many shortcut buttons it has, and overall build quality?

And is the OP list all that I should check? Nothing to add?

I have extremely large hands and I bought a G9 a few weeks ago for about $50. I think I like it, but the jury is still out. I had a G5, but the problem is that it is "dome" shaped and because my hands are so big, my hand rotates to the right about 30 degrees. When I would push the main mouse button with my index finger, it was like pushing on a 45+ degree slope and it would tend to "torque" my finger/joint to the side. (are you guys picturing this?) Maybe its just because I have long fingers, but it was making my index finger main knuckle pretty sore.

I decided to get a mouse with a "cupped" mouse button - like the Razers, but the G9 has this a bit as well and I like Logitech. Not sure about how it fits my hand overall, I am using the larger grip with the lip on the left side. It's not perfect, but nothing is so far.

What I really wanted to post was that there is a very cool new keyboard called the Tactx from Alienware.

This is basically a Mk2 Logitech G15 keyboard without the LCD screen, but WITH the *** VARIABLE COLORED LIGHTING OF THE G19!! ***

I wanted something with red lighting and this thing will do 20 colors. Some may not like the styling, but if you go to the page on Dell.com, they have an app that lets you change the colored lighting in the pic - in both zones.

This seems perfect for me because I like the G15 keyboard, but not the amber color and I dont need the LCD. It's about $100 but I am willing to pay for a bit of coolness.

Check it out:

There is a review out from another site, but I am not sure if we can post links to other review sites. Google "tactx keyboard" and it comes right up.

http://www.alienware.com/acces...temId=17571&CatId=1154

http://accessories.us.dell.com...=en&cs=19&sku=330-6214

If you click on the second link, go to the gallery and click the lower left pic, you get the color change applet. Pretty cool.

Now, maybe Logitech is going to make their own version of this - that would not surprise me, but they decided to OEM the alienware version first I guess.

EDIT:

I cant find any warranty info on the alienware KB. I had an original G15 that I liked, but it died after 15 months. Yeah - 1 yr warranty :p That is not cool for a $100 KB. I wonder if Dell/Alienware does any better...

Low battery warning light is handy.

Keyboard: Gigabyte GK-K6800 is surprisingly good and cheap ($15 at newegg.com). Several sites have reviewed this keyboard and gave it good marks.

Mouse: Logitech MX518 is decent and Fry's electronics has it on sale for $19.99 (after $10 rebate). I bought 1 last night. Link below is the hot deal section of the forum.

I don't know about that board davidrees, the G11 in my OP goes for $40+ less with all of the good stuff that a keyboard needs; I like the color choices and the design, but the G11 seems like a better deal to me.

Assimilator, I think I'm going to aim for a wired mouse just for better price:performance ratio, so I don't think I'll need that, but yeah, for wireless mice that is a definite plus.

Doclife, it kind of hurts to say this because I'm in love with the G11, but that actually looks like a great option, volume control done in the proper way (turning wheel), and a bunch of shortcut keys on the sides, not to mention the great price. Dammit, G11, drop in price by $20 or something so that I can justify getting you instead!
