screwed up world? what period in history are you comparing to?

not really to any period. Heck, its probably always been screwed up. People and their selfish ways. Inequality. And also just how mortal and fragile we all are. disabilities, disease, early death, you get the idea.

I don't particularly think that our world, or society is the most rotten, or so rotten that it would drain the life out of me. If it ever gets to that point, I think my motivation would be in trying to better it in anyways I can. Never a quitter.

Some problems can't be fixed though! You just got to live with them.

that's not the answer for everyone.

gawd, i hate how some people treat anti-depression meds like candy.

There is much worth living for, but very little worth dying for.

With life you have music, food, family, beer, sex, hobbies, friends, freedom, challenges, and a nearly infinite list of possibilities.
Death is the end of the line. Death is nothing. Death is null. Death is void.

I certainly know I'm not willing or ready to die.

I know lots of people get depressed at times, I know there are people who are extremely depressed all the time, I don't understand it. I like life, sure there are bad days, but a bad day is better than no day at all.

I dont think I have any kind of problem or anything, these are some legitimate questions!
Most people just dont think about them.

And a bad day in the States is exponentially better than a bad day in Cambodia.

For everything wrong with this place there is still a lot right. I keep going for my wife, kids and, ultimately, myself. There is still much to be accomplished...or at least attempted.
In the words of Don Henley, :music: "sometimes to keep it together, you've got to leave it alone" :music: 🙂

I'm looking forward to getting into a career. I'm looking forward to sharing my life with someone. I hope to have kids to love. I am looking forward to all of the memories that I'll have.

What? Ritalin and adderall is the new M&M for kids. Its so popular in fact that it's now being sold in the bigger 1lb bags, next to the dark choclate and peanut butter m&m's.

gawd, i hate how some people get mad at the mention of medication just because theyve read one too many newsweek reports about meds getting overprescribed.

Ritalin and Adderall aren't really "depression" meds. Yes they are to treat a psychological disorder (ADHD), but that's different from depression. Also, I will agree that generally, meds do tend to get overprescribed, however, that doesn't mean that it is NOT the solution for anyone in specific. Also, many "depression" meds are not controlled substances, so the risks for dependency are low.
I would suggest to anybody who is feeling depressed a lot of the time to seek professional help. If a doc wants to prescribe meds, and you aren't comfortable with the idea, then there's no harm in seeking a second opinion.
