if i didnt have some more pricey options in my 401k it would be lower

Mine is around 0.1%.

I would assume most people don't know exactly what their expense ratio is since you would have to figure in each trade cost for most people.

Edit: ~0.03% for 2012. I don't have the number for 2013 yet.

i doubt you are serious, but for fun, lets do some math here:

(1 - .04) ^ 30 = .293 = %29.3

if your ER is really %4, then you will have lost more than %70 of your $ to fees in 30 years
