Not bragging but I have not used heat since December 5, 2004. Simply not needed very much here.

65... Which isn't enough. My old house is pretty drafty, and 65 feels like 60 in most rooms :(

Living in SoCal, you don't have to worry about such punny bills like gas, electric, or water. Its your interest only mortage that's breaking the bank.

We have a woodstove, so when the temperature gets below about 74, we think we're going to die from hypothermia.

Programmable thermostat FTW :D

I read somewhere that it actually costs more in fuel to keep shifting the temperature up and down so many degrees. It is more energy efficient to keep the temp steady. Not sure if that is true.

It definitely helps - noticable difference in my gas bills when I put it in.

Heat transfer is a function of temperature difference - smaller temperature dfifference = less heat loss. And your furnace is more efficient for long runs then short.

50 right now (ie, its off). Maybe it'll go up to 60ish when it gets cold out. Although I have no idea if those temps are even close to accurate, the thermostats we have are old.

I keep it 63 for just me and my cat. When I have company over I will turn it up to like 66 to 68 though cause I'm such a nice guy.

I don't use the heater. Ever. The windows are wide open. I get more than enough heat coming through the walls from neighboring apartments. In fact, the air conditioner is on high right now. Outside temp is 46F and it's raining.
