UPDATE THUS FAR:

doing some quick and dirty math yields a startling conclusion! if you calculate the average salary in this poll (throwing out the 500000$k+ votes because they are likely lies), you get an amount of:

87653.51$

this is substantially less than the previously believed minimum pay of 100$k which everyone on ATOT supposedly made per anum!

This is very situational. For example, if I made a nice round sum like 100k in Topeka, KS, it would be decent here. People on the coast would go WOW, how do you make so little, but with the cost of living calculator, in manhattan that is equal to 234k and change. Still might not be a lot, but its over twice the amount in Topeka. That amount in San Diego would be 140k. Still a nice increase.
http://cgi.money.cnn.com/tools/costofliving/costofliving.html

I always wonder about these cost of living estimates.. I can understand big cities being 2-3x more expensive for the first 50-100k you spend there, because you really do have to pay more for rent, utilities, household supplies, food, drinks, and other basic things that are hard to avoid purchasing in the city you live in.

But after those basic costs, it seems like cost of living should flatten out a ton. Expensive toys like big TVs/theatre systems, nice computers, cars, vacations, wedding rings, etc. cost about the same regardless of where you live, especially with the rise of online shopping. It seems like perhaps 100k in Manhattan ~= 50k in Topeka, but 300k in Manhattan ~= 200k+ in Topeka. When you make 300k+, you simply don't spend an appreciable amount of money on the items in paragraph one.

Am I missing something or is it very inaccurate to use a linear cost of living adjustment past the first 100k or so?

I vote for base salary only, even those bonus & OT generally add and additional 25-35% more income.

I make a bit over 60k, think it comes up to like 62k or 63k. I'd have to check when I go to work. So I picked 60000$ to 80000$. I'm kinda glad I don't make 60k on the dot because it would be a dilema as to which option to choose. :p

With overtime, shift differentials etc it will probably be over 70 at the end of the year, but I don't really count that since it's bonus money. I'm very well off if I say so myself, can't complain.

The bonus is part of your income though.

I'd rather make $100k with a 25% bonus than makes $110k.

This poll would be much more interesting if it was two dimensional. Either salary vs age or salary vs number of years in current career.

Agreed but it'd be kind of tough to do with the current polling system

One final left before graduation, started job in career field ~6 mo ago and I'm in the 40-60k range. Due for a review here in the next 3 weeks that also should bump me a bit.

I'd be fine financially... if I didn't have freaking student loans. Ugh.
