What is your pulse?

I counted my pulse for 15s then multiplied by 4 so I got 64 beats / minute.

I have had a little coffee, but otherwise I have been sitting for a few hours. Is that high? What should it be for a 20yr old? Just curious.

That is just fine as long as the pressure is there to back it up. When I was in better shape I could regularly pull off pulse rates below 60.

anywhere between 60 and 80 is good for most average people...if you are very active, you will get below 60 without any problems, over 80, u may need to excercise some more:)

mine is usually around 65

Mine's 62, and all I do is run ~10 miles a week and play some soccer. Oh, and walk to class.

At my last checkup it was in the low 50s but they told me my blood pressure was relatively high. Is it natural for someone with a low pulse rate to have higher blood pressure (since theoretically you need to have a certain amount of blood going through your body to maintain itself)?

Will probably get my BP taken when I give blood this Thursday... I think I was sort of low last time 110/65, or is that normal as well?

mine was like 92, is that a bad thing. I was exercising about 20 minutes ago, but that was 20 minutes ago.

Resting pulse, like blood pressure and maximum heart rate are highly individualized. I've always had a low pulse rate, low blood pressure, but also a fairly low mhr.

I run about 35 miles per week, now. Swim twice a week. And lift 2 times per week (tied to swimming).

My resting pulse right now is 47 bpm. My blood pressure is always low in the a.m. before I have my coffee. It's probably around 95/60 right now.

I have a long history of endurance exercise. These numbers are not particularly low, even for my age. Many of my younger friends have pulses in the low 30's.

Low blood pressure is no guarantee you don't have heart disease, by the way. It is simply one marker of possible good health. My doctor told me last week my heart sounded strong, but he couldn't guarantee I wouldn't keel over from a heart attack in 15 minutes. He said my low blood pressure was a pretty good indicator that my chances for a stroke were slim. I'm more worried about a stroke. I'd hate to lose my mental faculties and still be alive. I'd rather kick the bucket in one fell swoop and get all that dying business over with quickly!

Hmmm actually I don't know, but I can control my heartbeat, you know like make it go faster or slower, but since I actually get a little scared of it I don't do it anymore.

AoD ;)
