I don't know exactly what I am. All I know right now is that I'm going to vote for the Black guy with the big ears instead of the White guy with the big head. :/

Why?

Because Mitt Romney is a huge toolbag and I hate how he shits on hardworking Americans. Not to mention his snarky comment about the NAACP wanting "Free stuff" from the President. Thats rich, Mitt. You mad because they booed you or were you going to make that comment to the good ole boys regardless if the NAACP convention welcomed you with warm arms or not?

If there's one thing I wish these threads would illuminate, it's the utter falsity that 'the founding fathers' believed in the government as you described it. What you believe the 'founding fathers' intended is factually false. There was a huge variation in what various founders believed in and certainly no agreed upon idea of using the government only for those aims.

Where do these fairy tales come from?

Some wanted a King. Some would have made citizens subjects. Those that are generally thought well of did not seek an authoritarian state. So there was a great variance in opinion, but the consensus did not reflect their values.

I've been a registered Republican since I first voted.

Because my father was active in the Republican party back in Ohio where I grew up.

I don't actually vote Republican unless there's some other good reason to vote for a Republican candidate.

I get lots of cool junk mail.

So I take it you are not partaking in our political process.

Why post in a political forum?

Because the system has been subverted and the answers lie outside of the cherished political process? Your meaningless votes are easily deflected by czars, corporate lobbyists, central banks and international bodies.

My political ideals most closely align with the Libertarian party, though the current Libertarian party seems to me to have an air of compromise about it which I don't like.

I've been of voting age for a few years, and thus far haven't seen enough difference between candidates to be compelled to vote. I think the voting system is essentially rigged and partisan politics is political theater designed to trick you into thinking you have a choice.

None. Because both R and D parties have been thoroughly corrupted by their paymasters and ideologues, while the libertarians up for election have no chance of winning and are often extremist loonies.

I find people in both R and D that are worth voting for now and then, but I'm more often just voting for the lesser evil.

Independent in US politics but leaning on authoritarian conservative side. Political Compass test shows 2 right and 8 up.
In my country, I like Partya BNF(Belarus National Front) - it is far right. Nationalistic, proud, and against the 'President'. If there was political type test, I would score 4 right and 10 up.

If I had been of voting age in 1908, then I would've said the Party of Jefferson, Jackson, and Cleveland left me. As for the Party of Lincoln... I've never really closely aligned with the Republican Party as it's been largely the same as it was when it was the Federalist Party... pro-corporate welfare, pro-imperialist, and pro-centralization of power. Harding was good, but he wasn't as good as any of the giants of Jeffersonianism (Cleveland, Van Buren, Tyler, Taylor) and Coolidge was just average. All of the other Republican Presidents left a taste in my mouth like if I'd licked a bunghole with diarrhea coming out of it.

They can, however, largely be divided into two camps, so he got it at least half right.

As you know, those two camps are the Antifederalists and the Federalists. However, neither side was left of center overall. The Federalists/Whigs/Party of Lincoln were economic fascists (a centrist economic position since they were pro-business and pro-bureaucrazy rather than far left LBJ-style redistribution) while the Jacksonians and the Bourbon Democrats were pro-market (on the right end of the economic scale).
The Heritage Foundation?
No, damn it.

I dont have a party. None of the ones currently formed fit my views exactly 100%. Of the ones currently around Libertarian is the closest to my views minus the unregulated market part.

I post here because politics as a whole can be interesting. But i do not partake in our political process due in part to the EC. Anyone who cannot see that the EC nullifies you vote is a fool and should be ashamed of being scammed for so long to think they have a vote.

As I do not believe in determining the answer before I have even learned of the question I do not affiliate with any political party.

I have held these opinions of mine much longer that that idiot has been on the radio, so if anything, he is copying me.
I really don't listen to him or like him. He is just another bag of wind entertainer with a microphone.
So you claim to have been an idiot and bag of wind longer than Rush has?

I, for one, cannot dispute your assertion.

Only the intellectually dishonest, or those lacking intellect, are so partisan as to have a political part.

Former lifelong Democrat (genetic among Southerners) now a registered Republican because I hate them a wee bit less than I hate the Democrat Party and the Libertarian Party doesn't do primaries. But since my primary pick (Romney) is getting the nod - first time since Reagan - I'll probably vote for Romney even though I usually vote Libertarian and Gary Johnson is pretty much my all time favorite Presidential candidate. Of course, Tennessee is so conservative that my vote in the general is a complete waste of time either way.

Personally I usually consider the Libertarians the lesser evil. However, considering my personal views (very classical liberal/libertarian on social issues and individual freedom, isolationist hawk on defense and foreign policy, fiscally very conservative, very pro-tariffs and trade barriers, very anti-public sector unions while mildly anti-labor unions and very pro-trade unions, very pro-strict regulation on environment, moderately pro-regulation on businesses) I'd be completely screwed if the Libertarians actually had a chance. (With, obviously, the notable exception of Gary Johnson this year.)

Sometimes the lesser evil can be hard to find.

I am a member of the Common Senseican party thanks to the failings of the current parties to grow and change with the times. We vow to work closely with the 'don't buttfuck the peasants for another million dollars' party in the following days.
