What is your opinion of CSPAN ?

I got into an argument with my roomate last night about the corruption in the world media, but primarily in American media. Aside from many other peices of this argument, one thing I mentioned was an appreciation for the CSPAN(1-3) channels. I feel that without some Journalist playing middle man, I am getting better insight into the factual words and actions of the politicians, etc. that I see on CSPAN.
My roomate argues that ALL media is corrupt from head to toe...including CSPAN.

What do you think ?

i think your roomate is an idiot and doesnt have a clue how the media works. As for cspan, I like it. Saves me from buying sleeping pills. 😀

There are 2 things in life that I've understood.

Risk is better when played drunk.
CSPAN can only be understood while drunk.

This is observational, not experential reserach.

When a news media knows where the world's most wanted terrorist is but refuses to give up the information (harboring a criminal) stating reasoning of something to do with keeping the story theirs, and fscking gets away with it, I stop watching news altogether. I haven't seen a full news cast since.

who (and when) claimed they knew where osama was?

I like CSPAN. I have a TV in my bedroom. I turn to it, set the timer to turn off the TV and it helps me fall right to sleep... seriously.

I use to watch it all of the time when I had a TV. I really like booknotes, especially the parody they
showed on the fifth anniversary special. I think it's the most informative channel on TV for what is
happening in the US government.

I agree completely. But I really want to investigate the FLAWS of CSPAN.

How do they set themselves up for possible corruption ? Bias ?

I'm not sure what you mean. Can you explain a little more? A large percentage of its programming is simply live broadcasting of the house and senate floors.

The point is that I agree with you...unfortunately no healthy debate ever consisted of two people agreeing.

I want to boast the legitimacy of CSPAN to my roomate, but he argues that I simply CANNOT trust what I am seeing on TV...EVER ! (unless it suits his opinion, and of course then he is all for the TV) .... I just want to drive this point home with him tonight, and I want to make sure there isnt any legitimate corruption in the CSPAN system that I am missing.

You haven't lived until you've witnessed Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia address his fellow senators on CSPAN.

I dunno who FFM is talking about, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was Geraldo. 😀

FFM: It's in the publics and the media's best interest that the media doesn't become an informant and tool of the government. That gives the press the freedom to report without bias, which in turn helps the public to learn the truth rather than one sides spin.

Washington Journal is on every day at 7AM.

CSPAN rocks-- only unfiltered source of news in america.

you can watch those bloviating idiots (the pols) up close and really get a sense for how corrupt they are.

once in a while you get to see how really creepy some folks can be (gay pride march on washington a few years back got pretty disgusting when a speaker stated she want to f#ck hillary and thought chelsea was pretty cute too [i am not making this up])

for total humor - watch the washington press corp dinner that has the president as a guest - the one where Don Imus gave a talk with Clinton and Hillary on the dias was priceless - brought tears to my eyes.

almost as funny was Al Franken hosting the same dinner the next year - total suck up to the Clintons

now i agree that it is also useful for those who are insomniacs.
