What is your Mount Rushmore of Mount Rushmores?

Seriously, I doubt the majority of posters here have ever seen Mount Rushmore. So, what impressive monuments have you seen?

Probably something around DC; one of the buildings. I don't find that kind of thing impressive though. I'm kind of jaded in general. I'm more impressed by spectacular engineering. The last thing that really impressed me was the Mars shot, and successful rover drop. I was highly impressed, and still occasionally watch the video.

Yup, I was in it, but that was ~30 years ago. What I most remember about that was it was blazing hot, and the windows were filthy. I don't remember any other impression.

i want to camp out there for that...
the last time there I was along the rim. I ventured towards the scary edgy points and took some gnarly pictures with my legs dangling off the rocky edge.... when suddenly along came along a mountain goat outta nowhere! didn't want it to headbutt me into the abyss so I quietly went back to reality..

You've got it backwards. The mountain goat WAS reality. I encourage you to try camping in our National Parks, they're awesome!

Goats impress me! I was doing work in a quarry once, and there was a small population of semi-domestic goats. Some had collars, but as near as I can tell, no one really took care of them. They had run of the quarry, and made their own way. I was doing some work on a terraced bench with a sheer cliff behind me, and a sheer cliff in front. I turned around, and the goats were about 25' away. The only way they could have gotten there was coming down the cliff. Their sure footedness with hard little feet, and no hands I find super impressive.

I respect goats so much. Used to have one as a pet as a boy living in the country. Love em! and love to eat em! =\

Natural Bridge SP, in Kentucky;
Fort Stevens, (outside Astoria, OR) with it's pop-up cannon guarding the Columbia inlet;
Statue of Liberty (need to go back, I was only 7 or so, waaay back when; )
As many flight and space museums as I can drag my family to...

Noooooooo I was in the midst of typing up a witty meta-Mount Rushmore Memorial parody thread!!!

But anyway.

1.) Mount Rushmore. Surprised that it seemed smaller than I'd always imagined. Possibly because I'd just come from:

2.) Crazy Horse Memorial. If I was a billionaire, I'd personally donate enough to fund the completion of that thing myself. It's going to be epic when (if) it's completed.

3.) Natural Bridges. Lesser known than the Arches, but impressive nonetheless. Have not yet been to Arches.

4.) Shiprock. Not a Monument, but awe-inspiring.

5.) Grand Canyon. Duh.

Haven't been to anything impressive lately, been a while since I've taken a good trip

I live in the state and have only been there once when I was like 8 or so.

It's all this state is known for, mainly because there really isn't ANYTHING else here.
