What is your member status?!!

Only a Senior Member for me.... though since Ive been deployed up here in Kosovo my post total seems to be rising a little bit faster...

I beleive Elite is gained by actually being helpful in other forums. Or by bringing a smile to peoples face..whatever that means....or by being a girl 😛

Here is the original criteria:

How do you achieve Elite Member Ranking?

1. Post total is not the only criteria.

2. Length of time as a member, while important, is not specifically defined. But, racking up a couple thousand posts right after joining is not going to get you there.

3. The members contribution must be valuable to the other members. This does not necessarily mean one who answers many hardware questions, but also members who post entertaining, enlightening, educational, or just plain fun material.

4. The member must be supportive of the BBS, and of AnandTech. To clarify this, it will not matter if you have 10,000 posts if you feel compelled to personally attack my Moderators when they are just trying to do their job.

This is not to say that constructive criticism and suggestions aren't welcome. They are. But, many of you seem to think it's okay to throw stones at people who volunteer their time out of a love for AnandTech.

This status is granted on an individual basis, and is not automatic. The granting of this status is at the sole discretion of the Administrator.

Here is the new criteria:

Elite members are those who have been supportive of the forums, and positively contributed in a variety of ways, whether it is being helpul answering hardware questions, tracking down trolls in For Sale/Trade or just simply bringing a few smiles to other members in Off Topic.

Generally what happens is that a member is usually nominated/mentioned in an OT thread. Other members may second that nomination through acclamation or linking to particular threads where the member has been outstanding.

Large numbers of people supporting that nomination may catch the attention of the moderators or administrator. The mods/admin may then consider the merit of the nominated member. If deemed worthy, the nominated member may then be given a new status.

Yes... Its a conspiracy I tell you!

<< jeez, only 70 votes? I thought 80,000 people were signed up here! 😉 >>

Ah, true, but some insane number like 30,000 are junior members with zero posts. And, of course, only a couple hundred are logged in at any given time.

I was hardcore old school with just "Member" for a looong time, but it was recently changed (last coupla days, weeks?)... made me kinda sad, I used to be special.
