Yeah, that's probably why high-end electrical parts are usually silver plated.

Actually parts aren't gold plated because gold is more conductive then silver, its because gold is much more corrosion resistant then silver.

For me its a toss up between Aluminum and Radium:

Aluminum because it has neat properties, like pH dependant solubility;

Radium because it is present in some of the natural springs in appalachia, the water from which was once marketed as "liquid sunshine." Not to mention that it gave all those female watchmakers those hot cancerous tumors of the mouth back in the day.
