I know there are quite a few fans of A7X on this board from the numerous posts I've seen referring to them. They are my favorite alt/rock/metal band since 2000. They have so many damn good songs and unbelievable guitar solos - not to mention their musicianship is insane. I went to their concert this year and was completely blown away - 10x better live!

My favorite album by them is Waking the Fallen and my favorite song is "Chapter Four" closely followed by "Wicked End". I also love the slow song "Warmness on the Soul" off their 1st album.

I can't stand their old screamo stuff. It's disgusting. How are you supposed to focus on their music when your eardrums are bleeding?

That said, M.I.A. Excellent guitar song.

After they overplayed "Bat Country", I was completely turned off to Avenged Sevenfold. They aren't bad musicians, I just got really, really tired of hearing them.

Unfortunately, Bat Country's one of the songs that gets old after you hear it one too many times. MIA and Seize the Day don't suffer as much from this syndrome.

What I don't understand is why Bat Country's so popular. It's not even a very good song, compared to the rest of the album. The wonders of radio...

I only know a few but I really like Unholy Confessions. I don't like the singer's actual singing voice. He sounds better when he's screaming.

They still aren't a huge band just yet - the only thing that really got them started was their new record label and City of Evil.

I agree that Bat Country is not one of their best songs by far... but it is the 1st I heard and got me interested. I started w/ City of Evil and worked my way back on their albums. Waking the Fallen is by far their best musically... they're the only screaming I can handle. And no they're not emo, but they do attract quite the emo crowd.

Mike Portnoy (drummer from Dream Theater) likes them so they must be good.

OMFG I HATE that Bat Country song, one of the few songs that I have to immediately change the station if it comes on.

Try a different song by them... anything else off City of Evil is great.

i LOVE the song by avenged sevenfold where.... like..... there's no music whatsoever and no singing at all. like, all those little parts between songs where it doesn't sound awful. that's my favorite from avenged sevenfold.

If you have no desire to listen to them, you should have no desire to post in this thread. We can't all like the same music - the world would be too boring.

Actually I'm not so sure he should try that. If he despises Bat Country, there's a good chance that he won't like anything else on City of Evil, as almost all the songs are still in the same vein. The only one that isn't very similar is Seize the Day (which is an excellent song, though repetitive).

That's a problem with A7X, they attract all the weird people. As a band, I guess the kind of music they play is prone to these people, but they're better than that. I like them, along with Coldplay, Jack Johnson, Sum 41, and techno

I appreciate them for the music they make, though, and not the lyrics. That, IMO, is the important thing.
