coated peanuts called Borrelnootjes, so addicting

I like many snacks:
pepperettes
bugles
bits & bites
mixed nuts
Swiss Chocolate bars with hazel nuts

Fresh fruit, and it has to be room temperature. If it's refrigerated, meh. Fresh cherries from NY are awesome. I purchased 3 pounds earlier this week - from Washington. I didn't know you could pick cherries 3 weeks before they're ripe and then somehow make them turn the color of ripe cherries. So flavorless. 🙁 Then, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, thimbleberries, watermelon, cantaloupe, apples, pears, peaches, plums, yummmm.

someitmes they need to sit. I also picked up about 4-5 lbs of Washington cherries over the weekend (that's about $6 here, because awesome).

They were very, very dark. watery and completely flavorless that day. 😡

a day or two later, now they are damn delicious. But we tend to have a minimum of 6 cherry varieties out here, so it's never slim pickings. But these were the cheapest of the cheap. 😀

This is a tough one.

Tamarind balls
Khumar
Gulab Jamun
Sawine
Parasad
Chow (mango, pineapple, tangerines, plum, sour cherry)

It probably has a few more.

Normally I might have looked up some of that foreign shit, but since you led off with tamarind, I already know not to listen to anything you say on any subject. For that, I thank you.

What I'm currently devouring:

Bag of microwave steamable rice + mixed veggies
Can of fat-free refried beans
Can of chicken breast (discard half the water)
Salsa, hot sauce, etc to taste
Pour over Fritos or dip with tortilla chips

wait... a "curry beef bun," whatever that is, is a snack? What the hell is a meal to you--half a cow and 3 pints of Haagen Daaz?

Yes those buns are only the size of your hand. And yes I can eat a lot in one sitting, I only go about 150 at 37. Still waiting for metabolism to slow down.

A good, ultra sharp cheddar with apple slices, mmmmm.

Hummus and kalamata olives.

A fresh, home-made fruit salad with shredded coconut allowed to sit just a bit so the juices co-mingle.

Salt and vinegar potato chips.

Julienne crudites (bell peppers are my faves) with a simple home-made dip of either honey drizzled into a good sharp mustard or sour cream into which garlic powder, onion flakes and cayenne have been mixed.

Tamari (soy sauce) and a little relish on a good sharp cheese on a nice, crisp, thin cracker.

I have this machine I got at a garage sale into which you puree bananas which you then freeze into an ice cream like concoction. You can "puree" blueberries or raspberries or strawberries into the mix as you go. It comes out delicious!

A good, fresh crusty bread smeared with a premium pate.

Dark chocolate at at least room temp. This harkens back to the ice cream thread where several posters said they despised chocolate chunks in ice cream. This is in part, I believe, because they are relatively flavorless when cold, more so when still frozen.

^^^ Nonpareils have been my favorite since childhood. Nonpareil literally means "without equal" in French. Also, the magic of either milk or dark chocolate together with almonds cannot be denied.

To forestall the judgmental trolls, I must add that I'm old but not fat. This is in part because I adhere to the dictum of moderation in amounts. A little of something fatty but tasty goes a far longer way towards satisfying you than a ton of fat free, gluten free, taste free crapola. :colbert:

- Any fruit (kiwi, raspberry, pineapple, apple/asian pear are best though).

- Sliced grape tomatoes, baby carrots, and/or pickling cucumbers. Salt and peppered, with a big bowl of sour cream for dipping.

I usually buy Cheez-It, Better Cheddar, and Club crackers.

Occasionally I'll make hummus, and will have that with naan flatbread.
