Here are some examples of programs i use all the time in linux that are not available, or much more limmited in Windows

Windows does not run iptables ... the ics built in to wondows sucks. (or ipchains for you with older ip masq boxes)
Windows BitchX sucks compared to BitchX for linux
Eggdrop ... I think they ported it to windows .... But I have never seen anybody run one in windows
I doubt theres a FREE port scanner for windows with as much flexibillity as nmap
I doubt theres a FREE packet sniffer for windows as good as snort
I haven't seen a "K-NewsTicker" for windows yet ...
Linux has GIMP ... FREE ... Windows has Photoshop ... Expensive
Linux has compilers op the wazoo ... all free of course
Linux ... PostgreSQL + PHP + Apache = web server heaven ... total cost of software $0.00
Windows ... you'd need to install IIS and probably Micro$oft SQL ... and then PHP ... would not run as efficiently ... and less stable

but as much as i like my linux box ....
I still like windows too

I feel like arguing :)
iptables are way more extensible and configurable than ics will ever be. I can make a web interface that will controll my linux router box with no effort at all..

Gimp is NOWHERE NEAR the usability of photoshop. It will get some of the stuff done after about 2 hrs of going thru idiotic right click menus...and odnt even talk to me about CMYK support

Windows has free compilers too, all based on gcc ;)

Yeah, and we all know apache doesn't run on WinXP

WTF is eggdrop? Just because IT doesnt run on windows doesn't mean we don't have something better.
Seventh Sphere (?) is a fine port scanner.
Ethereal is a KICK A$$ packet sniffer.
Why on earth woudl windows want K-anything? We have better news tickers that don't require KDE libs if you're not using KDE.
gcc with mignwin compiles win32 binaries, and Visual C++ kicks the crap out of gcc, and comes in with a built in debugger that is much faster to use than ddd (frontend for gdb).
WinXP + Apache + MySQL + PHP... total cost of software: $10 for XP Pro media as a student.
Windows doesn't crash on its own. Crap drivers crash, and crap apps crash. Right now, n00bs don't write many apps for linux so stuff stilld oesn't generally break, but just wait until your own VB comes out and your precious linux box gets chock full of crapware.
IRC is for dorks. (well, i use it sometimes, but i need to make my point ;))

First of all xp needs to be restarted at least once a week (for servers) otherwise the memoryleaks will fill up the heap...
XP is a beyotch to work with when you do webdev work (how would you adda dns zone thru php? ..thought so)
Plus any windows server app gets owned how many times a month (read Code red, the thing last week etc. etc.)

Do you have the slighest clue what you're talking about? At work our windows servers are generally up for over a two months at a time until one of the developers reboots one (no real reason... I can't recall the servers ever going down for anything but a drive dying in the RAID 5 array). And they don't get owned if you are responsible with firewalling, patching, etc. The kind of admin that gets a windows box owned would have gotten their openSSL owned, or be using telnet on their linux box.

ROFLMAO!;) Windows may not be (read isn't) the "best", but when you have such a huge section of people whom use it, have tried various "'nixs'" and don't like them/don't understand them, windows is gonna win every time!
