I've watched recent movies and many of them were great. Lets see, some of my recent favorites are Social Network, Book of Eli, District 9 (that comes to mind).

But just last week I've watched AMADEUS again (maybe for 20th time heh) and wow... it really shows what a good movie should do. I still get all the emotions I had when I first watched it.

Everything is so wonderfully amazing , I dont think any amount of CG or hot chicks can top this movie ever.
The music and how it was explained is just brilliant.

.Can't believe it came out in 1984. @_@!!

Hmm, will have to see that one. Never heard of it, but imdb says its great!

Mine, guilty pleasure or not, is Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. The chaos and over the top-ness of it just gets me everytime, its like watching an adult Disney movie.

I have different favorites in different genres, but my overall favorite would probably "The Shawshank Redemption."

Please please watch it with good sound setup. Preferably if you can find an audiophile friend with a proper setup for music (2.0 ^^) , not some 5.1 setup with freaky 100000000 watt subwoofer.

Music is just over the top.

"Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me" was easily the greatest movie in the history of cinema. Everyone knows this.

CT is joking because he hates the concept of redemption.

Each of these are great and my 'favorite' for one reason or another:
1. Shawshank Redemption
2. The Godfather
3. Amélie
4. Fight Club
5. Eternal Sunshine
6. Dr. Strangelove
7. Memento
8. The Great Escape
9. Life is Beautiful
10. the Sound Of Music
11. Forrest Gump
12. Duck Soup
13. Gandhi
14. Glory
15. Toy Story 3

Color me Geezer; my all-time favorites seem to come from the Black & White era.
Treasure of the Sierra Madre.
Touch of Evil, Casablanca, and Citizen Kane are contenders, and I've always liked the film adaptations of Tennessee Williams's plays; I can never seem to pass up Streetcar Named Desire, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof or Night of the Iguana.

The English Patient, amazing film really love how they tell the story with flash backs.
Casablanca, best American film ever made.
Some Like It Hot, best comedy ever made. Marilyn Monroe, Billy Wilder and one of the best scripts ever created.

LotR: Fellowship of the Ring. Good soundtrack, excellent visuals, and just overall a very enjoyable movie. The only part I didn't like was the fairly abrupt ending - especially sitting there in theaters knowing that it would be a year or two before the next one came out, it was agonizing. The other two in the trilogy were good, but the first is my favorite.

My favorite: American Psycho. It's one of those movies you can just watch again and again.
