I am interested in the seagate barracuda's but what is the most up to date drive for the seagates? Is it the 7002.7 series or whatever it is?

Cheetah 15k.3 is my favorite. Idle noise isn't bad, and while I can hear the seeks,
I don't mind the feedback... not when it's getting something done at the rate that it does. :D

Out of the IDE drives out there, none seem very impressive to me in use, although the fastest
thing I've tried is an 80GB WD Special Edition. I think my next drive for my home system will
be SCSI unless Western Digital manages to kick out the updated 36GB Raptor with the fluid bearings.

Cool, the scsi Hd's are pretty nice, but I'm really not interested in very fast speeds, just really something that is fast, with a big storage and is quiet.

If you have the funds I would suggest SCSI. But the Raptor is by far the most dominating drive out there, after having a couple on this computer it pains me to use computers with any lesser drive.:D

I like my Seagate... 8mb cache, 7200 RPM. fast, and quiet.
and more reliable than Maxtor (they barely ever last, for me)
I also like the WD special edition series. I haven't used any SATA or anything yet. meh.

I very much want to jump on the Raptor bandwagon, but I really want one of the new fluid-bearing ones. I don't want to spend the money for the 74GB version, but waiting, and will be waiting for the 36GB version.

I'm really interested in the seagate barracuda series, but there are like 3 different kinds of them. The IV, V and 7200.7 something like that. I heared that the 7200.7 are loud and they have some weird stuff going on. Also are they the most recent drives? Or is the Barracuda V the most recent drive? I heard also that the IV is the quietest but the 5 is quiet as well and it's more up to date. So what is the real information and where can I get a deal on a 120gb seagate barracuda IV, V, or 7002.7 8mb cache 100/ata 7200rpm drive? Thanks! Also which one of them is the best?
