What is your favorite game to play online?

I just recently got a cable modem and discovered what fun it can be to play others over the internet. I've tried Serious Sam2 and Aliens vs Predators so far. What are you guys playing?

Simply.....Counter-Strike

I've tried playing MOH:AA online, and with a cable modem and ping of 40, it was so choppy and laggy, and couldn't play it very well at all.

ConfusedBW

Depends on what you want, i guess.. head2head or online-only games.

I dont play head2head, and as far as online only, i think Asheron's Call is best.. I have played it since beta..

<< Is counter strike a team effort kind of game? >>

yes, you are on a team, either counter-terrorist or terrorist and as a team attempt missions, ie save hostages, bomb a spot, etc.

Like quake3 except on a specific mission and team-interaction

well, many other features too

a very good game

Realistically, Counter-strike is team death match. When you play online, 9/10 people are just running around trying to rack up points. The other person might be trying to complete the given objetive, but is normally stopped by his/her incompetent teamates. I apologize for seeming cynical, but a couple of years of playing has made me this way. When you first start playing, you'll love the game. After a while, you'll run away from it and try to prevent yourself from ever returning. Trust me.

For a REAL team game, Return to Castle Wolfenstein is great, and requires lots of teamwork. As for me, i'm still owning it up at Rocket Arena 2 mod for Quake 2. And a little Warcraft 3 here and there. Hated Counterstrike, the aiming seemed imprecise and the people walk like mud

I play strictly UT... I love the different game types and variety of mods. UT can satisfy any mood I am in... For class-based action try the Team Fortress ripoff for UT called Unreal Fortress. I tried Quake 3 and didn't like it as much, however I must admit that the action was more heart pounding, which is good sometimes but I prefer UT where I find it personally easier to aim. I also have tried CS but didn't get hooked, maybe I'll try it some more.

UT is the best! I love to play some fast-paced Zoom ESR arena matches in huge arena. That is the best!

Medal of Honour - fantastic when played over a broadband connection with a fairly powerful PC (the multi-player game seems to put more of a strain than the single player missions).

Still CS for me especially since I go on some good anti-cheat CS servers 🙂,I still play UT,Q3 etc but CS is still my favourite.

I've tried this with the following:
Athlon 1.467GHz, 256MB ram, GF2MX, 512/128k cable modem

Ping of 40, played like CS with a ping of about 800, and this was on official EA server, 32 players.
