A true sequel to Turok 2: Seeds of Evil (don't even mention the third installment) using the CryEngine 2, or even better perhaps, a re-make NOT re-imagined of that same title. Maybe even a re-make of the original, Dinosaur Hunter, for me, would be absolutely amazing, but only if done right, and that means that if I had the complete knowledge I would do it myself.

It's still hard to pull off. With modern day cheating, you'd need server-side hit detection and very efficient round-tripping, which really slows things down for a shooter.

The closest anyone has come so far was Neocron, which was very fun but severely bugged. I haven't tried Tabula Rasa yet though.

Taking the total war concept to a massive scale.
Borders and countries that move and change.
Alliances that form and break.

Sounds like you want Sins of a Solar Empire.

nope too small scale.
I want thousands of players in the game.

Have you played stroghold: crusader ?

I love base building games too and that is one of the best.

The folks by Stronghold, Firefly Studios ALSO made a space colonizer game. It's several years old. I never played it, but maybe you're interested.

Mount & Blade is what you want.

Hmm.. most folks on this thread want bigger sandboxes with more stuff and freedom, or a direct sequel/update to something existing, in both cases with huge replayability. I guess that's to be expected when someone asks for a "dream game" (singular) in PC Gaming. I think better sandboxes are good, but those will get made in any case, it's just a matter of time.

Some of the stuff I want to see:

Some emotional weight in an otherwise mass-market, high production value game. It's impossible to be brave in a game if the game doesn't offer the choice of being cowardly. It's impossible to be a good guy if you can't be a bastard. By taking away all choice, COD, MoH and so on reduce duty and honor to a *backdrop* instead of enabling the player to *act* those things. Even something as simple as civilians sprinkled all over in select places in COD (taking realistic damage) would go a long way. There doesn't even need to be an in-game reward or punishment for it. Some people, knowing there are no consequences, might choose to roleplay a war criminal, not identifying their targets, or even shooting civilians on purpose. Some others will roleplay a respectable soldier and check their targets. Yet another group of people will simply ignore the civvies since they do not have a bearing on advancement in the game. This is just one example, of course. The real point is that even a touch of adult themes in mass-market games would, in addition to making that game more memorable and meaningful, pave way for games that hinge on adult themes - something we now sorely lack.

Tactics/action game with a strong realtime management component layered on top. Some kind of system to balance or adjust to support what you want to do. X-Wing was like this, but I'd want the management component to be more demanding, offer more choice and reward more for thinking forward. Special abilities with load times and cooldowns. I've never played mech games, but I think a fast-paced, small urban mech game where you'd use buildings as cover and climb them, bust through walls and so on would be a great shell for this kind of mechanic.

A parkour game. I just noticed something like that, called Mirror's Edge, is already on the way.

An arcade shooter, a little like The Club, but much more over the top and fantasy-like. You'd build momentum/power with comboing, and fast time would be the primary goal. The game would morph as you get better at it: first it'd be about survival like normal FPS, then about clearing obstacles efficiently, and finally you'd sort of race through the maps. I'm talking about the kind of power difference where after spawning, you'd need to headshot the weakest enemy to bring them down in one hit, and at top power you could just run through them and they'd explode. The best tactic at every individual obstacle would depend greatly on what you have managed to acquire in the same level before that obstacle, keeping the gameplay fresh. A good example of that sort of system is Tumiki Fighters.

You start off on foot with basic weapons, a few NPC quests to get you started then 90% of quests are player made (eg, someone owns a mining operation and his supply lines are gettign raided, you take his contract to protect a shipment with a APC or light tank).

Player made cities that can be made anywhere.

Lots to do yourself, wars to wage (with logistics and politics like in EvE) with clans and no safe zones (similar to EvE). If the front lines of a major war shift to your city, then that city can be burned to the ground with you in it.

Start on a planet with several factions with different advantages and disadvantages (local government, inner sphere, rebels, bandits, clan, merc) related to skills and how easy it is to get/make stuff.

If game is a hit expand the game world to a solar system, if it continues to grow just keep adding solar systems. It would be nice to have it done like in EvE online, but the lag with so many people on one server would just kill the game.

Beat me to it. :)

It would have to be Classic Battletech, however, before Wizkids massacred the universe with their Jihad and clicky-tech.

I'd make the game so that everyone starts as a merc and there are cities, worlds, etc. that already exist. As you accomplish things as a merc you can then create an IS character like someone in Davion Royal Guard, Draconis Combine, etc. and you can join units, get promoted, etc.

After accomplishing certain things as an IS character then you unlock the ability to create a Clan character.

This way the IS is beefed up with cities, characters, etc. prior to any Clan characters being around to mount an invasion plus being a Clanner is something that would be uncommon rather than EVERYONE choosing Clan.

Yep, space colony.
Its sort of like the sims in space.
Its available for cheap most places as is stronghold crusader.
I've seen both for under 10.00 each.

Also they are on gametap if you have that.

KoToR based MMO. Jedi Outcast style combat and force usage. Space combat style of Star Wars Galaxies. Real time space to atmosphere transitions with the ability to land on planets and strafe land based targets. Ships with multiple player controlled functions(turrets, pilot). Player cities, housing, and skill based leveling systems.

Don't care what it would cost. I'd buy it.

Not sure how they would implement it but I would kill to see an MMORTS. Even better made by Blizzard.

Starcraft 2 is something I've wanted for years not and fortunatly it is coming.

A lord of the Rings Total War style would be flat out amazing. Could do it back pre lord of the rings time frame.

In general I would love to see some new GREAT RTS games. There are definitly a lot of good games out there but nothing in terms of the type of quality you found in the Stracraft era. AoE 1, SC, Red Alert those games were about as perfect as you can get in video games would love to see some replacements for them... the type of game where graphics mean less and quality means more. I played SC 1 for well to this day although rarely now a days. Give me something like that and I will be very happy.

An MMORPG with full lootable corpses and stealing like UO back in the day. Would like to see an MMORPG go balls out, no holds barred.

Medieval Total War 2?

The gunpowder infantry is so poorly implemented in Medieval 2 that it's not even funny. Nothing like taking apart a city in 5 minutes with 3 Bassilisks though.

All this talk of gunpowder makes me think that a gunpowder FPS might be interesting.

Maybe not fun, but interesting. There'd have to be a reloading minigame, but it would make you pick your shots really carefully.

What pissed me off is that you see these huge epic armies in the trailers and then its like ordering a whopper at jack and the box, and getting a little shriveled patty with a meatball inside.

I loved Savages by s2games. If blizzard somehow made a combo fps/rts game to starcraft quality, that would be amazing.

Wow I can't believe how many of you are mentioning a space flight sim... I thought it was a pretty niche market. Well, it is being developed, based exactly off the games you're all mentioning, Freelancer, X-wing and TIE fighter, ect. It's also a sequel to an mmo game thats still up and running 8 years I think now -- Jumpgate: Evolution. http://www.jumpgateevolution.com/index.php I played the original Jumpgare for at least 5 years and had a great time. Coming out 2nd half of this year...

Also, there's another (though it's probably vaporware, as I've heard it being described as "needing the resources of a small government to complete the ideas they have") that's all about space exploration and massive scale capital ships that you pilot and build. I don't know much about it, but looks interesting anyways. http://www.infinity-universe.c...ity/infinity_media.php
