What is your cpu temp reading???

I have just purchased an AMD 1GHz 266 cpu with a Thermaltake Volcano 6cu (copper inset, 4550rpm fan). Using MBM 5, it shows my cpu temp at 42deg low and 44deg high. I haven't tried stress testing yet, but I was wondering what other people show for their cpu temp.

btw, i'm not using any exotic thermal paste, just using the stuff that came with the HSF.

As i'm sure MikeWarrior2 will be here to say shortly, Socket A temperature sensors are very inaccurate. You can only compare temperatures with people who have the same motherboard.

I'm idling (sorta, IE and Winamp open) right now at 40.5C on my Athlon 1.4@1.53 using an Alpha PAL8045 with a 48cfm fan. Soon to be replacing it w/ a Panaflo L1A. My room's kinda cool now though. When it gets warm in here I might idle around 43-44. I'm using an Epox 8KHA+ w/ my voltage at 1.85v and the thermal paste that came w/ my HS.

And I'm sure he'll say that you cannot compare any system unless everything is identicle.😉

You're right.... you cant' with good accuracy... however, comparisons between the same mb, adjusted for ambient system temp, can give you a "ballpark" temp to aim for as normal for that mb.
