how does borrowing money and not having to pay financial charges sound to you? there is a law protect credit card holders against frauds, we are liable up to $50 (most cc issuers will waive this charge). there is none for people that use debit cards. good luck with that. in the case of a fruad, you will be at the mercy of your bank. :)

One of my cards hasn't gotten a limit increase in more than a year.... I have another card I never use that has more than double that limit. Do you think that if I had the limit lowered on the other, the limit on the small one would start to creep up?

Target Visa 1000
Chase Visa 400
Chase MC 900
Capital One MC 1500
Capital One Visa 550
plus a couple of store cards

I screwed up my credit big time while in school. It's been slowly but steadily improving over the past 3 years. Went from FICO of 480 to around 620 now.

$10,000 a day. I don't have credit, only debit, and they limit non-lobby transactions to $10,000 a day, supposedly to prevent you from being robbed blind at the ATM heh. The last time I had a CC was when I was 17 or 18. It has a $2500 limit on it, and $100 for overcharges. That was the primary reason I stopped using credit, I shouldn't have to pay extra to use my own money. The other reason is, I never have to remember to pay a bill heh :D Oh and some Visa my parents gave my sister and I for emergencies, I think the limit is 50-100, but I never use it, maybe once for tuition or something. It's not really mine so I don't count it.

I have about $70k in credit cards, but one in particular raises my limit by about $3k a year. It's up to $19k now and I use the card maybe twice a year to buy dinner.

I would like to point out to the naysayers of credit...if you live in a capitalistic society, your management of credit lines is quite valuable. The whole cash philosophy works best in a communistic or socialistic setting. Where goods equal the value of the dollar. In our country, prices are so inflated and you have to watch interests rates and so on, the dollar goes no where as far as a good credit rating.

Anywhere from $500 - $20,000

Average is around $10,000 per card I'd say.

I got a student card that started at $500 so I could buy stuff off the internet. It's now at $1200 (I'm now full time employed). Am I supposed to tell them I'm not a student anymore?! I'd like to keep the card because it looks cool (it's translucid), and I can manage it from my credit union's website.

I applied for a second credit card last month, that I will only use to buy gas. I spend like $2500 a year on gas, so if I can get the equivalent of 2% back, that's 50$ free per year.

You clearly don't understand how to use a credit card. I feel really badly for you with all of the crap you are exposing yourself to with merchants putting holds on your checking account, etc.

- $8k on each of my AMEX cards (Costco + Blue)
- $1.5k on my Citi Dividend Platinum Select (sometimes I get annoyed by the low limit, but I can use my AMEX when all else fails)
- $10.4k on my BoA Effectiva Visa

Enough to get around.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. My CitiBank Dividend Platinum Select was stuck at $5,000 for a long time (a few years). However recently I have been paying off cc's one by one, so I tried the increase and they approved me for $6,500 I'm not sure why I bother since the max I ever use it $2k on that card.
