$4500 US for:

'90 Audi (not sure what it is I only see it driving by). Its got 75,000 miles on it and the body (from the side I've seen) looks great. With a nice body and those miles it seems that for that price the seller is either high on smack or there is something seriously wrong with it...

I would recommend that you, and anyone else buying a used car for that matter, go find yourself a good mechanic (in this instance just take a ride to your local Audi dealership), and flip him a $100 to go inspect the car if you are really interested in it. That's the best investment you can make.

Thats true - I won't be buying another car for a while but it just seemed that this is a great deal - the car is undervalued, assuming that it is in sound working order isn't it?

Don't use the Kelley Blue Book to get a realistic price for any car. No dealer or bank uses it. Get an NADA book or see if a used car dealer will let you see the Black Book.
Example #1: I just checked pricing on my wife's 1997 Grand Am (hey, don't blame me, she had it when we started dating).
Kelley blue book value is 12,135. Yeah, right. Not on this planet. I just checked NADA at work today and average retail is just over 10,000.

When I was selling my 96 Bronco a couple of years ago, Blue book said the retail value was over 20,000. NADA was about 16,500. Blue book isn't even remotely realistic, at least not in my region.
Go to the bank and see if they have an old-car NADA pricing guide. That'll tell you what it's worth.

What's wrong with it is it's an Audi! At this age you will start having to pump mucho dinero into the damn thing to keep it running. That's why most poeple get rid of Audis and BMWs when they get around 70K on the ticker. Go price Audi parts, and if you can't do the work yourself you will really get reamed. Caveat Emptor

Ronstang,

What fantasy world do you live in? Did you get your stories about Audis out of the National Enquierer?
