What is wrong with my epox 8kha?

I am having trouble booting up my computer with epox 8kha. I kept getting an error 88 on the LED post code. According to the manual that is reserved. All the fans are on, and the CD-Rom power light are on. I tried to reset the bios by jumper and nothing happens, after switching the jumpers back, it still boot up with an 88 error code. I mean this mobo doesn't even start with the FF when I first turn on the power.

There is nothing on screen, the video card is not even warm.

This board is over the 30 day warrenty period(i bought a refurb), any suggestions?

Did you TIM your CPU and make sure your HSF/CPU is secured properly and that the F of the HSF is plugged into a F header on the board( try various ones sometimes the one closest to the Socket might be dead)....TIM=ThermalInterfaceMaterial

CPU and the fan is working fine, the boot screen won't even show up, it is not the CPU problem. NO beep codes either.

have you tried the board w/ other cpu's?? how about different power supplies?? it could be an assortment of thing, such as the memory or video card. i'm not sure if the 8kha requires it, but some boards need the cpu fan to be plugged into the cpu fan header

Reseat your video card and memory. If that doesnt work try booting with a PCI video card and change your bios First Display to the AGP.

Guys, I can't even boot into bios, so bios suggestion did not apply.

Yes I tried the board with different CPU, video card and power supply, same 88 error. It is not the memory or video card else you might get into the boot screen or at least some beep codes, I mean the screen is blank!

Is there a way to reset the BIOS RAM, not resetting it by clear the jumper on JP1.

When you boot up the epox board, the first thing it will display in the register is FFh, but it is not doing that. Instead it shows the 88h all the way. That is way I think might need to clear up *something.

BTW, this is an 8KHA, not an 8KHA+ correct?

My 8KHA+ would only display FF with no video signal and no post. I had to RMA it. Some other people had such a problem with the 8KHA+. Bad batches do happen....oh well....that's why it's good to get a mobo tested before the 30 day period.

Yes, it is a 8kha with NO +.

How exactly do you do the RMA process, I email the epox site, but didn't get any reply at all, that was 2 days ago. Their knowledge base isn't working either. Very frustrating.

Again, like i said i can't return to newegg cause the 30 day period is over, actually it is like 33days.

The board was working before, but then I bought a new case and new CPU, so I moved the mobo over, now the board is giving me troubles. I boot with everything to the min, no luck. Put it back to the old case with old working cpu, don't work either.

It seems that you may have shorted the mobo; things happen when those stand offs in the case don't line up with the mobo. To make sure, try putting the mobo on the antistatic bag, with just the CPU, RAM, and a video card installed (and HSF on CPU, of course ) If, with no case, the mobo still doesn't work, then you may have staticuted the board while installing into the case.

BTW, maybe you should phone EPoX. I e-mailed Axiontech for an RMA, and I got no replies in 7 business days. I gave up, phoned them, and 5 minutes later, I had an RMA number

That might be the problem, I will try it with the bag idea.
Did you guys usually install the mobo with the washer, cause I didn't use it this time. That might cause the problem.

This could be causing your board to short. Try the bag trick to see if that works. Just always use those washers.

Also, is you floppy cable on correctly? Did you try the board with only video and ram? Whenever I build a new system I put the minimal in to bood (video card & 1 stick of ram) to make sure everything is ok. Then I'll add the other cards until I get my IRQs the way I want them (usually 1 or 2 tries). Then I'll connect the drives.
