What is Wrong With Me?

I have always thought and been young for my age and I think that that is a plus and has kept me young. Examples are:

I build (and have built) my own computers, stereos and now home theaters.
I drive high performance cars and motorcycles and always have.
I play games on line like Unreal and Serious Sam (not saying how well)
Go to concerts and other fun gatherings.
Drink and party as opportunities present.

Why are others my own age so stogie? I've traveled, worked and enjoyed most of the USA. Does that count?

Not trying to blow my own horn here but why do people give up sometimes after High school, sometimes after children and sometimes after retiremtent?

I swore never to do that and have given up some creature comforts but would never trade.

What do you guys think? (This is for fun guys)

Peoples tastes change as they grow older. I don't like playing with Star Wars toys any longer.

I don't think that there is anything wrong with you, but some people seem to fear living more than they do dying. (Viewing life as a spectator sport seems like a slow painful death to me)

People get old... I don't know about you... but a High School field party doesn't sound like that much fun to me anymore. Now i'm still young enough where everyone my age goes to bars and concerts and parties till 3 in the morning... But I can see how that can get old. After a while... going to bed early becomes more appealing than a late night out.

ZSIR-

Been there and done all that and still doing it!!

Add 60-70 hour work weeks & driving 40-50k miles a year to accomplish that also.

Lord Maul-

The left one aches a lot :)

I'm the same way. I've become kind of lame and i admit it and I'm only 24. The problem with the "fun" people that i think of is they have a questionable future. I'm not saying you do. I dunno, maybe i'm just boring.

Skoorb-

I agree, most of the FUN PEOPLE are gone by early or mid twenties and never return but but the secret is to know how and when to have fun ad how much. A work ethic here helps. Im all for fun but at my age I think you have to admit Ive reached a successful balance.

I was a hell raiser before I got married and had kids, yeah then I had responsibilities and had to be the grown up.Somehow though,I understood that if I did my job right my kids would grow up and go off and live their own lives and when that happened it might be a good idea to still have a "me" to return to. :)

WTF???

You have "thought and been young for you're age" <- what the hell does that mean? How does one be young for his age? How does one think young for his age?

You're young cause you build PCs?

Am I the only one who's lost?

I would say there is absolutely nothing wrong with you, Max. You're a joy.

There is something wrong with a lot of folks over forty, though.

Some of em got their ass caught in the door when their minds slammed shut. ;)

thebestMax: I ask myself the same question quite often. why do ppl stop enjoying life after a while?
i'm quite old i guess too, but still enjoy going out, parties, and just living my life.

for a short couple of years in my early 20's i was one of those that stopped living in a sense. it had more to do with my gf at the time. i promised myself that that would not happen again. i've since enjoyed life a lot more. i'm always up for trying to things and seeing new places. when it's time to work, i do that, but i don't live to work or to pay the mortgage. i work to be able to live, party, pay the mortgage and see the world.
