What is wrong with AOL?

Hihi all,

I ask here for a friend which is a devoted AOL user. (I myself prefer not to use it though) Just what is it exactly though that makes AOL a bad ISP?

haha honestly its not bad its just very user friendly... so if your a n00b with computers its good for you... plus if i remember aol9.0 (is that a newer version, i dont even know) fux0red my rents' pc

aol isn't a true isp in the sense of you being connected to the internet.
when you connect to aol it is more of a proxy type of deal.
here is how they work:
you connect to aol,
they connect to the internet,
you want to goto www.xyz.com,
you request this page,
aol gets your request for the page,
aol decides if you should get access to the page,
if aol decides you are to have access to the page then they retrieve it and it is cached on their server,
they send the page downline to you.
not only do they filter the pages you can and can't browse, they also don't give you a true connection to the internet making your downloads and all slower. aol is like the internet on training wheels with your dad holding onto the back of your bike. you just think you are doing it by yourself when in reality it is all your dad...
