When I booted up my PC this morning, beginning WITH the boot data, the screen was distorted. This distortion continued into Windows, with the resolution being (I believe) 640x480, and my computer reported a device (8800GTX) missing a driver

Now, normally I'd just reinstall the driver, and I will try this once I get home (on a different PC right now), but:

- The screen was distorted DURING the boot menu as well, before windows even came up

- The screen was distorted in Windows, in addition to the default back to 640x480 resolution that we all recognize as a result of no graphics card driver

- My PC also froze twice inside Windows during this time only a few minutes into operation

I reset all bios options to default and this did not affect things. I WOULD like to resolve this if possible without sending my GPU back (it's an 8800GTX)...

Any ideas?

I'm thinking of resetting the card in the PCI Express slot for starters

I would say try to boot into safe mode or VGA mode to load the windows default video card drivers and uninstall from there and try to reboot into normal windows to reinstall.

Bump, any further ideas?

So far I have:

-Played with bios settings

- Reinstalled drivers, in safe mode, using driver cleaner

- Tried a registry fix suggested by nvidia for a "Code 10 - Device Cannot Start" error

- Removed and reseated the video card in its PCIx slot, and switched the two power connectors (connected to card from PSU)

Despite this, the screen continues to be corrupted from POST into Windows. It is not corrupted only in the bios itself, and during one of the startup screens prior to windows.

I am going to buy a new card tomorrow to ensure that it is in fact the video card responsible for the problem, but if I could fix the problem with my current card it would be highly preferable...

Any ideas on what else to do?

Main point is the that screen is corrupted from startup into windows, many possible solutions attempted, windows gives "Code 10 Device Cannot Start" error for 8800GTX (it does detect it as an 8800GTX though)

I have this same problem and i have changed the video card but it doesnt do anything, since 2009 have you sorted the problem if so, then what was the solution.
