What exactly is your question. My wife handles the check book and finances and I'm in great shape and never have to worry about bills etc... I just get them from the mailbox and place them on the table in her spot, they get paid.

This is exactly how it is with my wife,i think if i signed a check the bank wouldn't accept it(even checks that are made out to me).I wanted a 2012 dodge journey so tuesday i went over and bought one, when the moneys not there then i'll worry but she does a great job.

You married the wrong woman, apparently. Mine has worked 2 jobs, voluntarily, most of our marriage. If the house catches on fire, there's a good chance she won't make it because she's trying to gather up her "sock drawer" money that's she's hidden away. Growing up dirt poor can cause that.

My wife manages our money just fine. No complaints here! You're doing it wrong.

Same, I get online and look maybe once a month but other than that I dont think about it.

Maybe the OP doesnt have enough money to get women and that is why he is sad.

We tried working together on the money thing...

It's not as much fun as just letting the other person handle it: but all you "men" that don't deal with your money, you should know that bills can be very stressful when there's more month left at the end of your money.

My wife is pretty frugal but only has a vague understanding of how much money flows in and out of the checking account each month for bills. I've been planning on showing her all the bills and stuff so she could handle it if I ended up in the hospital or something but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

I knew a guy who made good coin (not insane, but solid) and let his wife run the finances. She was really bad with money. He felt however that since he worked she could do it and he did not want to know the details. Well, she ran up massive credit card debt and he continued to be woefully and deliberately ignorant of it all since it was "her job" and he didn't want to talk about it. Anyway, after they finally sold a pretty decent house and bought a much bigger one, sh*t got even worse. Around 3 years later they were forced to downsize purely because of their incredibly terrible spending habits, to a condo smaller than their original house, all the while he was still working.

There is a moral to the story here. It goes like this: If you combine finances or keep them separate, just make sure at least one of you doesn't suck sh*t with money. That person should be dealing with it.

Our finances are combined. I manage the money, and pay the bills. She lets me make all the decisions about savings and what to pay off or purchase, and when.

Sometimes she doesn't have the same paranoid need to be frugal that I do. But for the most part, we get along financially.

to all the posters in here who claim they are financially fine letting their spouses managing their household money, I got news for you: you could be enjoying your retirement right now in a tropical paradise instead of still slaving your life away if only you got off you lazy butt and kept your own eyes on your own financial situation.

Yes, I am sure that is the only thing holding them back from retiring tomorrow to a tropical paradise.

You don't have a clue do you? I know what is going on. I just let her handle it, she does a fine job.
