I'm not sure what is going on, but recently Outlook has been going incredibly slow at times. I'll click on an email and it will take 4 seconds for it to open, and OUTLOOK.EXE will spike to 100% cpu usage for that time.

I can't figure out what is going on... It seems to be a recent development. Any suggestions?

I have the same problem. I am looking at an inetinfo.exe of 50 percent and cpu usage of 100%.

I'm having the same issue. It's taking forever to move between emails in the same folder. Only became a problem the past day or so and no settings have been changed by me...very odd.

A good bet is that iut is running a complete virus scan on the email as it is opened. For that, 4 seconds is about par for the course.

I disabled my email virus scanning, closed my anti-virus, and still have the same problem.

I wonder if this is an issue with a recent update?

I'm going to try this when I get home, but it appears to have started with a May 8th/9th update for Outlook.... So, for all you guys who have this problem, try disabling the Spybot Immunizations and let me know if it helps.

I get it as well, but if there are downloadable images linked in the email that get sucked down when I open it. I dont think it is a spybot problem, I do not have it installed. I am using IE 7 though, plus my antivirus does not have email scanning.

Or, it might be related to Spybot + IE7 not getting along. The solution recommended here is to disable the SpyBot Immunizations:

For me it might actually be an IE7 issue. I don't have Spybot installed on my work machine. I do know IE7 will occasionally kill my active desktop.
