You have a government inforced curfew? That's freakin gay.
$10 says your city has one too.

Right now I live in Philly. I grew up in Exeter. I don't know of any curfew in either of them(not that it matters, I'm 18). If there WAS a curfew in Exeter, it sure wasn't inforced. Closest thing to a curfew is the PA jr. drivers lisencse.

What are the curfew laws for the City of Philadelphia?
Section 10-300 of the Philadelphia Municipal Code requires that persons under 18 years of age adhere to certain restrictions.
Children under 18 are permitted on public streets according to the following guidelines:
Sunday through Thursday: Children must be inside by 10:30 PM and cannot venture out until 6:00 AM.
Friday and Saturday: Children cannot be out after 12:00 Midnight. They may leave the premises at 6:00 AM.

I was once out with some friends around 1 AM. We went to Hardess and got a bite to eat. Some police came in and got all mad at us that we were selling drugs or something. We werent, they searched us. We got in a big arguement on how we had a car and we would drive home. The thing is, we had a cell with us and we had permission to be out late. Whats up with this!?!?!
I would be so mad... curfew is so totally absolutely retarded.
It's as much for your safety as the safety of others.

Umm...lets flash back to a few years ago, how would being out late hurt me?

Hit by drunk driver.
Kidnapped.
Mugged.
etc... or you could be doing any of said offenses to someone else.

That's pretty gay, but I think you mean under 18, cuz I'm outside at night all the time, I walked back from Egypt(to Drexel) on Friday, didn't get pestered by any cops.Philly Curfew (3/4 of the way down)
Curfew:
The official Philadelphia curfew for anyone 18 or younger
is 10:30pm Sunday-Thursday, midnight Friday-Saturday.
A) what's more important is I doubt Exeter, where I grew up, had a curfew. None of those things happened there.Hit by drunk driver.
Kidnapped.
Mugged.
etc... or you could be doing any of said offenses to someone else.

kids their age don't care about "safety" they care about having a good time.
i understand your perspective, but you have to understand theirs.
No I don't. They are underage. They don't get a perspective until 18.

What's the point of the government instating a curfew? Can't they leave the parenting to the parents? Really, its one of the most ridiculous laws I've ever heard.

Ok, so why not punish the kids that screw up? When I was 17, I was out late, I didn't do anything wrong, why should I have had to stay home? My neighborhood wasn't burned down...Heck I lived 5 miles away from Reading, a pretty crappy city, I don't think they had one either, and they didn't burn down either.

Oh, its not resource efficient to punish the 10% that screw up, so lets just punish all 100%. That is the worst logic I've ever heard. Might as well take down the internet, some people use it for malicous purposes.
You can think it is necassary, but I grew up in a city that didn't have one, or had one but didn't enfore it, and it wasn't a problem, for anyone. That tells me that it is useless, and makes a kids' life harder for no good reason.

Simply put, it is not resource efficient to evaluate each case individually.
We draw a line, and we stand by it.

There is no punishment, there is a simple rule to follow. If you're under 18, you can't be out after midnight.
And your small town up-bringings are not the rule, they are the exception.

The law is selectively enforced against those the police deem as threats. Your too young to understand the reason the law exists, when you have grown up some more you will understand.
