Pulled into a parts shop late at night to change the dead left low-beam on wife's 2006 honda. Who would have freaking thought that you need to take apart the molding of your wheel-well and then stick a midget arm with sticky fingers into the bellows of the car just to change a bulb?

Epic fail

What about removing the whole headlight assembly instead of doing that. I've never changed honda bulbs so I can't comment.

Might actually be worse, I don't think you can remove the headlight unit without first detaching all lightbulbs. The cords are very very short

What Honda are you referring to? I've only changed them on a 2001 Civic and that required taking apart the whole front bumper in order to remove the headlamp assembly to be able to swap out bulbs.

This is a result of designing cars by computer almost exclusively. Chrysler (in)famously made a host of cars that required you to remove the wheel to replace the battery.

I haven't tried it yet, but looking at the pics in the owners manual suggests that changing the headlights in the Fit will be the same kind of pita with removing trim in the wheel well..

to make matters worse, I don't expect this light to last long because I'm not entirely sure I was able to get it in completely un-touched considering the ridiculous tight space I had to put it in

My 98 honda is simple for replacing bulbs. Disconnect harness and twist. Taken maybe 5 minutes. I guess the modern ones are crazy.

Clay or foam. That's just the basic body style though.

When I had my 2000 mustang all you had to do was pull out 2 pins I think and disconnect the wire harness.

The design is inspired by Nascar ;)

Not the intrepid. (I have one and have replaced the battery before) The design has some benefits with regards to battery longevity due to lower heat exposure.

My 2002 Chrysler Sebring convertible does. But that's a small price to pay for a convertible. :)

for my Protege5 rear lights I take off 3 nuts and then pull the assembly off. Front ones are a bitch to change because of tightness of space.

as to Honda, I wonder if they do that to make people go into dealership for service.

Retarded. In my mazda mpv I have to remove the intake manifold to replace spark plugs. Surely that's rare?
