Anyone notice black patches in the display?

I have a SG S2 and also have noticed black patches. I don't know if it is a faulty unit, but I was sitting next to someone with a S3 and I could see some black patches when they were browsing Facebook.

you mean when it's dark, but not completely turned off? -- If so, those are "ink spots" basically they exist on all AMOLEDs.

I just see some sort of flickering due to the camera. Can't say I've ever noticed that on my S4.

Yeah, I think that was an issue with the iris on the camera. Look like it's on automatic and was adjusting itself.

Definitely a camera issue. The screens don't do that.

Not really, since when you do see it it's when there isn't really anything displayed on the screen (think pixels being lit, but black background). You don't ever really see it unless you're in a completely dark room.

Yes they do. Every GS3 and GS4 I've ever seen has those effects. Its just a physical property of AMOLED displays. Don't really understand the fuss as people are almost never staring at a pure black screen when the display is on.

What's this about pure black screens? The OP is pointing out some black bandings on a bright scene. When I look at my S4's screen through my point and shoot camera, I see the same thing as in the video.

I don't get what the video is showing, nor have I noticed black patches with any of the galaxy phones I've had.

No idea what OP is talking about, I see the entire video getting darker at 9:07, that's from the camera that's recording.

My Galaxy S2 has "splotches" when the screen is displaying black, but you have to be in a pitch-black room to see them, and even a single white pixel onscreen messes up my night vision enough that I can't discern them anymore. I doubt the video you're seeing is of screen defects (which admittedly do exist on many OLED panels) but rather are artifacts of the camera.

My S2 had that (in fact I replaced the first one I had because it was BAD). My S4 doesn't.
