Posting about cars and tech news doesn't result in virtual fist fights. This Conservative vs Liberal is getting to the point where Liberals and Conservatives are blamed for everything from the murdering mom to the gas crisis to the power situation in California to Timothy McVeigh to Liberals bashing religion.

From the threads I've read, it isn't harmless...it gets downright flaming hot in those threads.

I just didn't like the fact that I had come to ask why was this going on and wanted some explanations...and then others completely turn the thread into a bashing session.

Well Duh. When someone posts an opinion like it's the absolute truth you are going to get flames. What makes it interesting is that both the Republicans and the Democrats are a joke. In fact it seems we look for the biggest buffoons and elect them just so we can insult them. Take the Presidential Election. They couldn't have picked two more pathetic individuals to run than Bush and Gore. One couldn't tell the truth and the other couldn't tell the difference between the truth and BS. In all seriousness the topics dealt with in political threads will have more impact on peoples lives then whether the latest video card will give you 3 FPS more then the competitors. I fully realize that peoples views will probably not be changed by a discussion on a bulletin board, but the sharing of ideas and seeing others viewpoints can be a learning experience.

Man, you must of missed the Nividea/3DFX flame wars or the Intel/AMD slug fests that have broken out. Some of those have gotten just as out of hand then the political threads. It's all in what you perceive as important.
