What is ur CPU temp

<< you need to ask ambient system temp, motherboard type, processor type, etc in order to make this "poll" worthwhile.

Ditto! Your just going to spin your wheels. Heck just about anyone that will post temps will be different. Oh and to keep on topic mine are (using software) 23c ambient and 36c CPU full load running Seti. But LCD temps read 42c CPU and 34c (sensor right between the ram).

Mikewarrior2 is right - the type of CPU and motherboard is kinda important in a poll like this.

For the record my Athlon TB 1.4@1.533 with ECS K7AMA mobo idles at 35, peaks at 45.

Is a system lockup during a game a common side-effect of overheating? I was running RTCW recently and I crashed a few times, both times I rebooted and noticed my CPU temp at 59C when winXP restarted. Also, I had a screen error where my screen got kinda flickery, but this has only happened when CPUcool was reporting temps at 61C I just ordered a Alpha PAL8045 with a 48.5 CFM fan so I am hoping that will preform better then my dumb retail AMD fan. I know this goes outside of the purpose of this thread, but you guys seemed to know about temps, so I wanted to ask. thanks

Ambient (room) temp...70F
Mobo....Asus CuBX Asus Probe v2.11
Cpu...Celly566@850
MB Temp..... Idle..26C Load...27C (Prime95 Torture@10 mins.)
Cpu Temp....Idle..21C Load...27C
Cool temps, but hey, it's a Celly 😉

A system lockup could be because of overheating, amongst other things. What CPU do you have? I would say that around 60 degrees is a little high as a running temperature in any case.

Do you have any other case fans in your machine? You should have at least one intake fan and one exhaust fan.

my CPU is a AthlonXP 1800+, and no, I only have 1 case fan. I have a cheap case (mistake I never plan to repeat) and it only has room in the front for a fan. I leave the side off the case and just move the fan from to front and lean it along the side so that it is blowing on my graphics card and CPU.

Proper case air circulation (or lack thereof) is the biggest cause of high system temps. You can install the biggest/baddest HSF availible, but until you resolve this problem, (case cooling), the HSF will not be able to cool the Cpu to it's full potential.
