What is up with all the gay bashing on ATOT lately?

It seems like ATOT has gotten more angry and intolerant, and I've personally become more calm and indifferent.

We need a big wave of indifference to hit the forums. 🙂
 
Who said anything about being nosey? I don't agree with it and think it's wrong, and I'll say so if the subject comes up. That doesn't mean I'm out heckling gay people, though.

Just because you are extra sensitive to what you perceive as "bashing / basing" doesnt make you any better than anyone else. If something needs to be said about a group of people for their activites (like butt fuc*ing) - so be it. Thats the marketplace at work. Their defenders will stand up for them...like you and fausto. Well, ATOT has been getting more hateful lately, and steadily since I started lurking, back when these forums started. It seems like late 2000-early 2001 was the sweet spot.

I just think everyone needs to chill out.

I wonder how long it takes to cook a gay man should be the same as a strait guy don?t you think. Don?t want to cook them too long or they lose their taste and get mushy . 🙂

You'll have to get three of them and do a test. You need to use real butter though.
 
The reason there is so much gay bashing here is because Americans in general aren't as open minded as the rest of the world. Most Anandtech members are American so there is your reason for the gay bashing!

I think that's a stretch. Wasn't a guy in saudi arabia beheaded for having gay sex?

Anyway I have nothing against homosexuals. Just because I think something is gay doesn't mean I dislike them. I use the term generally in a negative context when i refer to something as being gay. Sure, the roots are based in peoples' common perceptions as gay being bad, but when I use it I'm not thinking about gay-man-sex. Anybody who takes offense at that is gay!
 
^^^ Or just overly sensitive (like moi), but to each his own. Atot has kinda gotten cruel, specially since I've been browsing more than posting lately because of the backlash I got when I commeneted about the honda and motocycle accident.

Good point. "Islam" and "tolerant" most definitely do NOT belong in the same sentence.

That said, I have no problems with people whose sexual preferences tend towards the homosexual; I just have a distaste for effemininity in males and the social aspects of the "gay lifestyle".

Just because many "Christians" aren't tolerant, doesn't mean that Christianity is an overly-intolerant religion. Read the new testament. Jesus said that if anyone doesn't want to hear about his message, to leave the person in peace. It doesn't get less overbearing than that.

You could, and it would not offend me in the slightest, as I am agnostic. However, I don't think there are that many predominantly Christian nations around these days that behead homosexuals, stone women for adultery...
 
It's because so many people here are very young,in a time of life where they might be questioning their own sexuality.

True that, but in terms of government reaction people in the US are not being beheaded for homosexuality. Heck, the episcopal church now has a gay minster/priest/whatever he is!
