what is truly better

The card to compare the 9800GT EE to would be the HD 4830 or HD 4770. Especially since it's clocks have been lowered, it looks like this: HD 4770 > HD 4830 > 9800GT EE. In terms of powerconsumption, I expect the 9800GT EE to use roughly the same as the HD 4770, yet be lots faster.

Methinks he's looking for the fastest card he can get that doesn't require a 6-pin PCI-E connector. That would be the 9800GT EE.
