What is too much power for a daily driver?

How much is too much depends on your skill and experience, so it's not a fixed value that will be the same across people and vehicles. For a daily driver, it's nice to have something that doesn't struggle. Being able to get up to speed really quickly or overtake someone quickly could actually increase safety in some situations. I'd say any nicely set up car that can do 0-60 in 6ish seconds or less can probably be plenty capable and fun on the road, but it really depends on the type of car too!
 
Played with a GTO the other day. We both lined up and hit it, just for a second, because there was traffic up ahead and the road was crap. Mostly just to hear each others cars more than anything. We had an open road before the next red light, no oncoming traffic, etc.

First gear from 25 mph, punch it, front end lifts and twists instantly, inside left rear tire gets breaks free and car starts to track into the left turn lane. Shut it down, shift into third and straighten it up. Time elapsed <= 1 second. We both got a good laugh.

Too much power?




Naaaaaah.

And I couldn't even hear his car over my blower anyway, sigh. Got to hear a little bit when I backed out but he followed suit immediately after.
