My friend is trying to sell his old computer and I was wondering how much you think it is worth?

CPU- PIII 733
Mobo- ? (nothing special, got it in a package deal from some computer store)
RAM- 384MB PC133
HD- 30GB Maxtor ata100 7200RPM
Video Card- Nvidia TNT2
Sound- SBlive Value
CD-Burner- 8x8x32 LG (I think)
CD-Rom- 48x (Don't know the brand)

I was gonna offer him $400CDN for it. To high? To low?

I think to high I would sell it for around 250 to 300

It would be steal if you could get it for $400 CDN (about $275 US). Here's about how it breaks down:

Motherboard: $100
RAM: $75
Hard Drive: $125
Graphics Card: $50
Sound Card: $50
CD Burner: $75
CD-ROM: $30

Total: $605 US

These are new prices. Used equipment usually goes for about 2/3 of the original, so that's $400 US at the lowest, or about $600 CDN. If you don't have any qualms about maybe cheating your friend out of a couple of hundred bucks, go ahead and offer him the $400 and see what he says. If he knows about computers, though, he'll turn it down (unless he's desperate to sell).
