wow that is really close to the foundation
The builder's folks that landscape most homes have no clue.

I guess I read the thread as the OP was upset that they were digging up the tree. I would have chopped that thing down a long time ago had it been that close to my house

If you can dig it out without hurting the foundation or killing the tree, it can be moved, or sold to a landscaper.

Palms take forever to reach a desirable height. Landscapers paid my mother in CA to remove two 60 ft palms.

palms dont have a big root system, more like a ball.
and yes you can sell it, here (florida) they are sold by trunk feet.
if it is a washington then here it would go for 250.00 a foot.

Landlord already has someone on the job. I think they're going to get a Bobcat or something to yank it out today.

I was thinking that Washingtons don't look as 'neat'. Washington's are the ones that can go to Zone 7b IIRC. No need for that in his climate. I think BoomerD has it with the Fan Palm.

looks more like a washington palm to me

Well, you're sort of right...the "real name" of this palm is Washingtonia robusta. There are 2 species in the family...robusta and filifera. Both ar efan palms. The filifera is AKA the California Fan palm...Not as tall as the Mexican Fan..They both look very similar, probably most of us would never be able to tell them apart, but there ARE some differences....
