I was putting dishes in the dishwasher when I saw this crawling up the faucet. I immediately ran into the other room (as I am terribly afraid of insects). I eventually worked up the courage to get close enough to take a photo, but I don't think I could get close enough to kill it unless it jups onto the floor so I can stomp on it or throw something heavy its way. It is about the size of my thumb.

it is just a stinkbug. don't kill it or your room will smell funny for a little while. try and scoop it up with a piece of paper and throw it outside. it won't hurt you.

It's called a African Death Beetle. Looks like you have an infestation... burn your neighborhood down.

Don't worry about waiting for it to move to kill it. That is what vacuum cleaner hoses and long rigid attachments are made for.

A squash bug. Yes, they do stink if you startle them. Best bet is to get a sealable container, get the bug into it, and put the lid back on. It is probably a good idea to kill it somehow, because they are considered pest insects. Maybe put some rubbing alcohol or something toxic like that into the container before you catch the bug in it.

I tell you though, it really sucks when you're trying to sleep, and you feel a little itch, and you go to scratch, and something with wiry little legs is right there. Kind of wakes you up in a hurry.

No, do not do this, otherwise your house will stink every time you use the vacuum again, at least until you replace the bag.

Oh, and I forgot, message to the OP:
These things can fly, too. :D

Don't worry though, they only like plant juices, not blood.

You need THIS. My fiance has the same issue scared of bugs and she runs away. Now she has this and the world is safe (in her mind).

Now she actually traps them until I get home to inspect and she's very proud of herself.

That thing reminds me of the Matrix scene where the pull out that scorpion (or whatever it was) from Neo's stomach.

I got one for my preteen neice, she enjoyed catching bugs with it for a few minutes. I'm betting it's sitting in a drawer somewhere right now.
