I don't listen to rap, but I've gotten pretty bored of the current rock/alternative music out right now, so I've decided to vary it up a bit.

Long story short, while listening to Eminem's new album, I noticed there is some sort of fued between Dre/Suge and Eminem/Ja Rule. Why? How? What is it about?

I don't really care. But it's interesting.

For some reason, I find this stuff interesting. I didn't listen to Tupac or Notorious BIG, but I liked reading about their whole fueding in their songs which inevitably lead to both of their deaths. I don't know, why do people like drama movies/tv shows?

Because it's publicity. After his bitch fit between him and ICP, he needs a new enemy.

Before humans lived indoors and bought food from supermarkets, they lived in caves and had to hunt for and gather food. That meant that life was much more dangerous back then and very often humans would have to run or fear for their lives. Fast forward to present day, we and our technology have evolved, but there are still some remnants of our caveman days such as the flight or fight response, the "gut feeling", violent/sexual feelings, etc. Now, we can't always act on these feelings, which is why we enjoy watching others act on or pretend to act on them. That is why ESPN showed the basketball fight 24 hours a day in the days following the event. That is why we pay $10 or more to stuff ourselves in with hundreds of other people in a room with bad ventilation to watch a movie and that is why we ride on roller coasters.

Eminem inherited 50's beef with Ja Rule when he signed 50 Cent. 50 and Ja have been fueding for years over street cred and sh!t like that.

but, it seems to have been squashed lately.

In 2003 Ja Rule and fellow MC 50 Cent exchanged insults and disses in a series of singles and underground mixtapes. The fued eventually escalated to such a level that Ja Rule mocked Eminem, Dr. Dre, Lil Mo, Truth Hurts, and Eminem's 6-year-old daughter, Hailie, along with 50 Cent on a single track. He referred to Lil Mo as an ungrateful bitch who has never had a hit single without Ja Rule's help; alluded that Dr. Dre and Eminem were gay lovers and suggested Dre's newest protege, Truth Hurts, might be a transsexual; and even claimed that Eminem's young daughter would end up a prostitute. It remains to be seen whether this 'dispute' will elevate to the level of Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur

From here.

Goes back way beyond 2003 with 50 cent and Ja Rule though. When 50 was with Columbia, he made a song mocking Ja Rule. Rumors circulated (and Ja later claimed in a song) that Ja Rule was responsible for a knife slashing (50 received minor cuts) that took place in a Hotel.

I like how people focus in on his shooting and use it as something against him. It was an unfortunate event that he survived. If someone in sports was shot (or even a singer that was not a rapper), and came back and had an unbelievable career, everyone would be praising them for their determination.

bapace: too true. You have to understand though... it's the attitudes of these guys people dislike... who could blame them ?

If it will lead to the deaths of Eminem and Ja Rule then I'm interested.

apparently rappers think they are important...

sadly, their record sales indicate that people seem to care as well

I love hip hop but I tire of these absurd feuds like TI and Lil Flip, Em and Ja Rule, Jay Z and Nas....**SNORE**

Make some music and shut the f^ck up. I don't care how your spoiled little rich asses can't get along. We all know 99.9% of rappers are talking sh!t and won't do anything they say anyway so they're blowing a lot of hot air. Now there are some excpetions to the rule like Suge Knight and C-Murder who are the .01% of whackos I alluded to.

drama = publicity = selling records = $$$$

that's why eminem's publicist went nuts when em got a house in royal oak and went to the housing assoc. meetings.
