I've heard this beat from People Under the Stairs, on the song Warm San Francisco Knights - it's the very beginning part. The beat seems very familiar but I can't figure out what it's from.

Are you guys talking about the beat, or the riff? The beat's generic, but the riff sounds a little familiar to me.

That's a different riff though. The one in the OP sounds really familiar to me, but it may just be a stylistic thing that sounds familiar. I don't really listen to new music, so it would be something old that it reminds me of....

That's pretty obscure. I've probably heard it before, but it would have been years. I'm guessing it was a stylistic similarity that was clicking with me.
